Builder as good as his word.
Render completed even though we had 5 small showers.
Will take a couple of days to go off then I can finish the filter area and insulate for winter.
Still not sure about heating the pond using ashp.

Next step insulation.
What would be the best method to insulate these returns.
The wall is now rendered and the 4 inch return is just showing above the final ground level.
Thanks

I used Armacell to lag all my external pipework - https://www.jtmplumbing.co.uk/insula...lengths-p10736
However those returns seem to sit right on top of each other so it may be better to wrap the pipes in that insulation foil/bubblewrap stuff.

The armacell stuff, from memory, comes in two thicknesses - 9mm and 13mm - so factor that into the space you have but I can't find fault with it myself, it's great stuff

Pond now complete
Landscape will have to wait until spring.
Just noticed a split on skimmer.
Can anyone recommend a fish safe glue that will cure underwater.
Thanks

I managed to drop the level and re-glue the split.
Its holding and not leaking fingers crossed.
I must have caught it when removing the lid, I have glued a stone coping to the lid which gives it a bit of weight
If it goes again I will pu the inside corners.
I have taken the leaf basket out so I shouldn't need to remove the lid.
My fish are to large to fit through the skimmer guard.

Quick video of the fish this morning.
They are almost banging on the window for food.
Fish Video
Window needs a clean and trickle in needs putting back in filter pit (the pipe to it froze so its on a temp hose pipe)

Just fully caught up on this thread. I forgot about it shortly after the concrete lorry wouldn't drive down your lane.
Can't believe how tough you had it with this build, despite doing absolutely everything by the book. More so now you have flukes to deal with as well.
My missus often says all the Koi have done is bring problems and there's always something wrong that needs money spending or takes up all my time, yet I've had it easy in comparison to you.
Of course, the result is worth it, your pond is beautiful, as is the setting, and your determination is commendable.

Hi RS
Already had to deal with costia. Have a look at the Is this costia thread.
Now it’s flukes. Have had marines for years and we’re used to problems with fish.
Koi are are just on a bigger scale. There worth it though.
This year I am planning on increasing the size of my filter area. I originally wanted to hide it as much as I could but it’s hard to move in.
Planning on building a shed about 3 x 2.5 meters so I can put a quarantine tank in and be able to move about.
Were in the process of getting the building stuff ballast /cement and blocks for the foundation. After the trouble last time I am collecting the stuff myself a bit each week.
I will I’ll update as I go.
Thanks

Just purchased the 4 tier shower from Adamkoi in The for sale section.
There was no pipe work with the shower.
What would be the best size pipe for the spray bar ?
I have plenty of 2 inch I could use but will I get enough flow?
Any ideas ?
Thanks

From the picture it looks like he had 4” on there, I’d deffo be chucking 2x2” over that beast if that’s what you have knocking around already.

FWIW I got Jason at JBR to knock me up a 2” “Y” pice for mine and it works a treat. (Rather than use a Tee)

Never thought of a Y. I was thinking a T into a complete loop.
Any idea on hole size and placement or is it trial and error ?
I also have 4 inch spare. Would have to go 2 inch from pump to 4 inch bar.

I’d stick with 2” myself, your infinite loop would be ok I think. There’s a thread on here somewhere where someone else had done that I’m sure.
Might need a bit of searching out but pretty sure I remember seeing a picture of a spray bar on a workbench of some kind...will have a looksee later
