In case I've missed.....
BCC, Is this pond biologically filtered by just the Anoxic?
Did you cycle the Anoxic and is it consuming ammonia yet?
I'm looking at all my anoxic baskets and my brain is thinking "This can't be possible, I hope anoxic isn't one big wind up just to get me sieving cat litter in the garden for 2 weekends and 7 evenings solid"
Caught next door looking at me sitting in the garden covered head to toe in dust, surrounded by huge bags of cat litter, a sieve, huge buckets to collect the dust and arm length rubber gloves where I'd been washing it off in the anoxic pond.
It wouldn't be unreasonable for them to have banned their kids from the garden.

I didn’t cycle anything mate, I should have as it’s not as though I didn’t have the time lol. I just didn’t engage my brain.
It’s probably too early to tell if it’s converting the ammonia or if my readings are just the result of me keeping on top of the water changes.
Along with the 24 baskets I have my shower although I’m only running it at half speed at the moment.
I chucked a load of filter bacteria in just in case as I figured it wouldn’t do any harm.
Have a trickle in plus smaller water changes which I was planning to do more frequently rather than large ones as it’s not quite as big a shock to the system.

Looking good mate. Will be interesting to compare notes as you’re only a couple of weeks behind me in reality.

Just realised you said you made 24 baskets out of 9x 30kg sacks of Sanicat.
Is that right?
I got 12 normal baskets and 3 mini baskets out of 8x 30kg sacks.
Which is quite a poor conversion, although I was quite thorough in sieving and washing to the extent the baskets haven't clouded the water at all.
1 bag of cat litter was almost entirely dust, only just managed 1 basket out of it. On average I got 1.5 baskets per bag.

I started off being extremely thorough washing but failed off towards the end as jeez it’s painful but as it goes, mine haven’t clouded the water either which did surprise me if I’m honest. I thought I’d get a bit of clouding but the chamber is clear as anything.
I did also have half a bag left over.

Yes, that's right.
Pump return pipe runs through that pond then into the main pond, but has a T on it which I can fully open so water all goes into the anoxic pond. There's a tank connector at the other end of the anoxic which opens to make both ponds a single body of water.
You can sort of work out the T situation in this old pic, just twist the pipe downwards and water comes out the T instead of the big pond which then just gets a small trickle:

Tights were handy, cut the legs off for the aquabasis then tied the leg outlet bits together to use as covers.
Where stacked they're just resting on the frame of the bigger baskets below so they still have 2" of water between base of top basket and top of cat litter in the basket below. This isn't a long term solution.
When I've got the will to make up more baskets I shall stack them as they are now but the small top baskets sitting on pieces of 4" pipe cut cross sectionally. At the moment the anoxic pond is covered to keep it pitch black preventing algae growth while the baskets mature.
Once matured and working next spring I shall buy lillies and plants to plant in the top row of baskets which should then do the job of keeping light out and reducing algae growth.
As I'm still running a full moving bed, do you know what the first indication will be that the baskets have matured? I assume nitrate will still start going down?
If that's correct then that's when I'll start removing the K1 media, say a bucket full per week.
Not only is this going to save water but electricity also as will save buying a bigger air pump to feed both moving bed and pond - moving bed will eventually be switched off, I hope.

Today was spent having a reconfigure of the bio chamber and shower supply.
Spent rather a long time attempting to get 110mm ID flexible hose over 110mm OD outlets/inlets.
Finally got there with some massive help from Frim, cheers mate
Works a treat.
A couple of things to note on the anoxic baskets.
The pipes that I laid across the tops to support the next layer had dug into and collapsed a couple of the baskets and 2 of them had split under the weight. I’m stacked 3 high. I ended up adding some more stones to the top of the baskets to spread the load a bit more so hopefully that will ensure the same thing doesn’t happen again.
As it goes, the litter hadn’t spilled out as much as I thought so that was a bonus.
The flexible pipe works a treat but was a right cow to on. Something a couple of mm bigger would have been better but just checked and the next size up is 120mm and I think that would be too big.
Anyway, working much better now as the top of the baskets are not exposed when the drum is at it’s lowest on dirty side.

It was a tough job but we got there in the end thanks to a combined effort and several cups of coffee Mr Big
I still think if you had champhered the ends of all the pipes 30 to 45 degrees the flexi would have gone on much easier specially with all that plumbing grease may have needed a multi tool with sanding blade or an angle grinder to make a decent impression on the pipes though as the file hardly touched it did it!!!
110mm flexi was definitely the right choice though and maybe some foam tape under the jubilee clips would be another option for future reference?
Looks a good job now and good to see fish in your pond finally lol

What we got up to in the privacy of the garage is between us only.
Not that we will brag but at one stage we had 4 hands on one flexi pipe
