Have you ever read any of the Jack Reacher novels Fred?
ah...well, I'll enlighten you then mate. So, in these books by Lee Childs, Jack Reacher is a 6'-4" ex military policeman and is build like a brick outhouse. He
gets into all sorts of scrapes, ends up fighting all the time and is very witty and charming and is a big hit with the laydeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees.
There's a couple of films based starring Tom Cruise as Reacher who isn't 6'-4"............. but about 4'-6"
Guess which version me and Frim are?
:)
I know how a spider in a bath feels like now.
Was expecting any second a load of water pouring in and washing me down the BD.

I’m not surprised really given that the Yateley lakes are 2 minutes way.
I was thinking about some child proof netting anyway so will look into that a bit more seriously over the weekend

Time for an update, a warning to all potential pond builders and a big note to self.
Righto, I’m quite an advocate of not over engineering things and when I discussed the various options regarding wall construction with my builder I let myself get talked into using trenchblocks for the walls with some stainless rods resin anchored in to the corners for some added strength.
(My precious pond was hollow block filled with rebar and concrete).
Anyhow, woke up this morning and noticed the pond level had dropped about 4 inches so immediately legged it to the garage to investigate the inevitable leak however, all was fine expect the level in the drum and bio chamber was very low too...hhmmm...stumbled to the pond (still in my dressing gown) to the sight of this https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...ba988f5340.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...390c784a42.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...9264f8ccff.jpg
To say I’m gutted is an understatement, I’m also surprised but not as surprised as I should be given the blocks have failed in a similar way to the other one that failed recently even though they’re only 4 courses out of the ground.
Oddly enough the area that gave me the real worries when the shell was built was round the window so I put some steel straps round that along with some additional rods, that’s also probably 3 courses above ground and is fine.
I think the fibreglass can be patched up but I’ve no idea what to do about the 2 walls that are knackered.
I need some time to reflect on this and discuss with the builder how we might affect a repair and at who’s cost.
I’m also eating a massive slice of humble pie as I was quite an advocate of trench blocks.
Could quite easily jack it in now to be honest.
Going for another cry now

:eek::eek: Blimey :eek::eek:
I got all the water out sharpish, cladding to come off to inspect the “good”’walls

Why haven’t they over lapped the blocks at the corners?!?

Oh no - so sorry to see this! We had something similar when building our house - we had a mad roofer who decided he couldn't wait for the steals to be delivered and built the roof without them - he was planning on sliding them in afterwards apparently!!. Result was that the roof caused the walls to spread. The remedy I seem to remember, after sacking the roofer and getting the steals in was right-angled braces to reinforce the corners and tie everything in. Something like that might work for you - might not look pretty but it would all get hidden by the cladding anyway.
Hope you get it all sorted.
