    Cetus Sieve Placement

I am planning an in ground pond.
Is it possible to place a cetus sieve to be gravity fed in a filter pit and then pump to a nexus above ground?

if there both in the pit I believe I would need two pumps and a balance pipe.

    Thanks

Here is the set up with balance line.
    Larger pump on cetus sieve.

    Hi Fred,

As I have two nexus and I would need two sieves it would make a massive filter bay under ground.
I was asking if I could pump up to the nexus and just have the sieves at pond level to minimise the filter pit size., The pond will be in the ground

    Thanks

Useful to see that Fred, exactly the initial set up I’m going with...when I finally finish my puddle! 🤨

How are you mate. Ok i hope. When i first planned my pond. It was a ultra sieve and nexus 320. So did my home work. I new about balance lines . With working on the oil rigs
So went looking for a good picture. And there it is.

Then as you know. I added a draco drum. So changed to two separate lines. Ultra on skimmer.
Draco nexus bottom drain. Each with uv on line.

Good luck with the rest of the build mate. Can t wait to see your finished results. All the best fred.

Hi Scorchio, You could have the seives in a pit at water level then pump up to the nexus and gravity return through a large pipe, save on a pump.
So you would use two pumps one for each nexus and different area for the pond return.
The nexus could be hidden behind some trellis or foliage so as not an eye sore.

    Hi John,

I had thought about just putting the sieves in the pit and the nexus above ground but I think its all going to be in the pit.
I will have a look at my plan and try to move some things around to see if I can get it to work and look right.

    Thanks

so what you were planning is sieve in filter pit on gravity feed then pump from there upto nexus then gravity return from nexus to pond, one issue i dont know whether youve thought of is when you clean sieve, then waste will also have to be pumped out of pit to wherever its going, theres no issues with the way you had planned it,gravity sieve pumped to nexus then gravity return, andi

    Hi Andi,

I had planned a drain in the bottom of the filter pit which I was going to use for the nexus, I will leave that in and use that for the sieves if I go down the sieve route.
I have changed on my plan the location of the bottom drains entry into the pit. I was going to enter into the middle so I can go left and right to eac nexus but after some thought i will enter both on one side of the pit so if I change to a drum in the future the bottom drains enter on the same side to reduce pipe work.
At least thats what I can imagin in my head.

    Thanks

Sounds good Scorchio,if you put a push fit bend or rubber boot on then it can swivvel right or left.

I’m good thanks Fred. Busy still renovating the house but when the warmer weather comes I’ll be back on the pond build and posting some updates to my build diary.

I’ve been picking up the gear still for the pond so I’ve got plenty of stuff to install when spring comes.

I’m still torn between a sieve & 320 on a balance pipe and a skimmer just pumped to a basket then return or whether to separate them out and have just the 320 on the BD and then the sieve on the skimmer on its own line.

Feels to me that having both together will aid filtration (?) but having them separate does give me a fail safe if one line drops.

Sorry to hijack then thread with this question but hopefully it’s seen as a relevant fork off it!
