Hi Scott, I have had 35 in mine too many really so have thinned it down to about 25 not very big,one about 24 ins and a few about 18ins.
My opinion is to start small 6-7 ins maybe 15 or so and watch them grow that is what i find enjoy about the hobby,as you are in Nottingham why not try Chris at Koimasters in Barnsley really knowledgeable guy with years of experience and very reasonably priced he has just got a load in this weekend from Ogata Japan all done from his home.
Good bloke Ken,he did mine and very reasonable, give Chris a ring for a chat.John

Been spending a lot of pennies there Scott three pumps.
Probably those nine would be a good start to get your filters etc going well then increase fish slowly, dont know anything about sturgens i just keep to koi.
Yes Chris has his buisness at home and goes to Ogata koi in Japan several times a year really knows his stuff and his stock are a lot cheaper than big dealers and same or better quality,he also has koi food etc and he breeds them.John

I can see you are useing rubber boots which is good as you can change the syatem when you need to,use them on bends if poss and any connections Swell do a good price for them.
Have you got your returns plumbed in?John

Hi Scott,i dont know what returns you have is there a shower?
Most folk have underwater returns ie a foot or so under the surface and a foot or so from the bottom, have you built these in Scott?
My system has both of these and the aim is to create a circular flow of the pond aiming to get the surface water to the skimmer, you have a seive so is the skimmer going into this? and the bottom drain to the nexus?
Swell Rubber Reducer | Swell UK Ltd
Here is a link to swell,i got all my rubber boots from them,if you decide to go for a drum later now is the time to plan it and fitting these boots will make it a lot easier and you wont be wasting expensive pressure fittings.
To be honest Scott i dont know why you didnt go for a small drum like an Aem or q/k one, because you wouldnt need the nexus or seive, but its your choice and only trying to help.
You have to really think this out,dry fit the pipe and check it out or put pics on here to see if it works ok.John
