Totally new to this !!!
Hello everyone, after years of waiting for my two boys to get older and many months of research I have decided to take the plunge. My first pond building journey has started.
I have taken advantage of some quality second hand equipment and recently purchased a nexus 220, Evolution Aqua 130 air pump and a Superfish 12000 pump for my skimmer line.
The plan is to build a 14 x 7 x 5 (feet) pond holding just over 3000 gallons, built from rendered blocks and lined with fibreglass. Using a spindrifter bottom drain and 4 " pipe to feed my nexus. Before returning to the pond via a variable control pump, 55w UVC and water heater. I plan to return my skimmer line via a 800mm water blade and a low level bypass for winter time when the blade is not in use. Many thanks for some great reading and info, I will keep you all posted. Pictures to follow the 2.5ton digger arrives this Saturday ...

Hi and welcome excellent to see someone coming in with what seems a good level of revised and reasearched knowledge sounds like youve got a good plan there and should be a spot on setup. Keep us up to date with plenty of pics and that good luck with the build.

Looking good mate its amazing what comes out ay ha ha
Are you using/keeping the wall as part of the pond? It will look ace with that curvature to it and help keep good circulation/flow with the rounded edge will be nice to see another one thats not the normal easy square/rectangle shape shuch as mine ha ha

Thats not a bad size really lee 14 long, 7 wide and 5.5 deep i take it should be plenty and keep within reasonable running costs aswell as within your filtration limitations although we do tend to always end up wanting more cant wait to see this finished.
