My first build aka Insomnia Project
So 5 days in and ready for concrete to be poured and walls built as soon as gone off.
I will be using a boxweld liner but I cant get exact measurements as the old pond was poorly built. No two sides are square or parallel.
Once the new wall has been built I intend to use celotex board to give me a square pond inside the square walls. The pond will be rectangular with a deep end and shallow shelf end.
My question at the mo is...what is the best foam or adhesive to fix the celotex board to both block and clay? The footings and above ground section of board will obviously be fixed to block and concrete.
But for 2 feet below the footings/foundations the board will be against clay.
I will be back filling the bottom drain and pipe work with building sand. I will also accurately level the clay pond base with around 2" of and using sand.
Who else was used celotex board with a boxweld liner? I have searched a few forums but I keep getting search results for glass fiber builds.
Thanks in advance,
Andy.

you wont be able to fasten it to clay, but as its only 2ft i would just fasten the sheets to the block with any grab adhesive, stand the sheets upright and they wont go anywhere, how far you coming up at ground level,if its only a couple of feet then use the 8 x 4 boards and lay lengthways,if higher you could still lay so 2ft against clay and 2 ft adhered to block then just cut and stick bits for top part, andi

About 3 feet above ground...so 4 1/2 feet all in that's in contact with footings and block...leaving 2 feet against clay.
Thanks for the help🖒🖒

Will you be putting a DPC membrane in prior to using the celotex? Its just that celotex isn't at its best when saturated - we were advised (by the manufacturers) to either tank behind it (to keep it dry) or use a closed cell expanded PE instead which is what we opted for.
6000g in ground koi pond
+3000g lily/Anoxic pond attached
29 koi (40 to 65cm)
Bottom drain, Mid water & Skimmer to Drum
JBR boichamber->Blue eco 500 pump ->below surface return.
Blue Eco 240 -> Large MB -> Waterfall -> Planted Anoxic pond (25 baskets)

I will have a compacted sand base.
There may well be damp but hopefully no water levels to saturation.
I think I read on another koi forum that the celotex pir boards are water resistant...if I read it right?

If I was you add a damp proof membrane, the cost in nothing compared to the headaches mate

The damp proof membrane is cheap enough. But cutting it back where the bottom drain seals to liner will make it pointless surely?

I mean add it under the slab and up the walls until you just above the ground

Im not altering the original depth, so 25+ years of previous liner I imagine has compacted the existing base.

Well getting there slowly.
Just waiting on liner and underlay to arrive.
99% of all bits in the garage waiting to be fitted which hopefully will happen this weekend. Off to collect the filter on friday which will dictate what goes where etc
Shame work is getting in the way but pays the bills.
More excited now than being Mr Stress Head awake at 1am running through everything !!!!

Surprised how much I have managed to get done between shifts..
Just left to fix tiles to top of pond, make and fit the lid to the filter enclosure then the 'small' job of tidying up the garden!!

I got the same issue with photos - side way - it helped to open them up on computer first, rotate it there and than upload here - as I have not figured out how to rotate it here once uploaded.
Let us know how happy you will be with your AquaForte gravity trickle filter you just installed.

Well the pond is all done.
So far the roto innovations gravity shower is working perfectly.
Just going to take time to mature the media.
