Just had a chance to look at the photos again but on a better screen this morning.
On the second and third photos there is a pipe coming out of or feeding your UVC - are you going to put anything under it in the way of brackets to support it as if you accidentally step on it you could break it? It just looks like it's off the ground by at least 2" that's all?

You have a keen eye, the pipe is off the ground that was one of the last bits I glued last night before I called it s day. I'll be sticking something under it so that there is some support under it should anyone accidentally step on it.

Nice one Steve. I would hate to hear something happened to it or you and undid some of your hard work. It just looks so vulnerable there and if it were me I'd either put a bit of something like 4 by 2 under it or maybe lower it using some flexi rubber boot couplers most likely while swearing to myself lol.
Good luck and keep up the good work, you are going much better than me and my infamous QT build lol

Hi Steve lovely job on your pond, great rewards for all your hard work, do you mind me asking what the approximate cost as been, I'm keen to start building mine, before I get to much older, but afraid to really start until I can get a realistic idea of what its going to cost me.
Mrs talking about bleeding holidays ain't helping my thought process either, women hey!!

An NRV is belt and braces really as just in case you have to move your air pumps for what ever reason and stick them on the floor you know you won't have any issues with them siphoning back when they are turned off.
It was just a thought as you know we all like to alter things now and again don't we?

That's just reminded me LOL I have an NRV on my airline for the Eazy Pod but not on the airlines feeding the main pond and they are more likely to siphon back I would think,
That's something else now I have to order LOL

Thanks Tom, I kept a rough track of the cost as I was building all in it cost me around 4k but I done most of the bits my self and bought some secondhand equipment. I would say bits add up quickly sonif you see a bargain get them when you can and store them if you can which is what i did.

Well everything's up and running now, I have a lot less room in the shed than i expected now i need to tell my wife the bad news that i cant put most of the contents of the shed back.
I went to the koi shop yesterday to look at some koi just to get an idea of what was about. I was looking to get some cheap pond fillers to get the filters maturing but he advised that I should get some of the more expensive fish but less of them. That way I'd have better quality fish and less fish waste. Does that sound about right

Bloody hell 4k, I was expecting you to report at least 10k, the looks of it all is fantastic for 4k superb stuff, just been measuring up for mine and I've realised that I can go a tad bigger than I thought at 12 x 8 x 5 approx, worked out the amount of blocks at around 500 and after seeing your pictures I am thinking of a filter house behind the pond, pretty much exactly as you've done.
Cheers and Congrats on a fantastic project and finish

There are lots of ways of doing things on a budget, ie I dug the hole by hand and took each bag to the tip saved me over 1k but its was hard work and most tips wouldn't take the amount of spoil that I took. It pays to shop around for building material. And look for bargains when people shut down their ponds, at koi shows, on forums and Ebay. Theres always lots of advice on here too and everyone is willing to help.

Sounds similar to me.
My pride and joy was riding on the bump stops to the dump and back for weeks on the first build.
On the 2nd build someone stole 300 sacks of soil from my driveway.... Which turned out to be fantastic news as the dump has just started charging Ł4 per sack of soil!
I think a lot of dumps will start charging shortly.

Our tip has recently put in a restriction to how many times you can visit per week, 2 a week now some weekends I was make 7 or 8 trips per day to get rid of what i had dug through the week and then during the day. More poor car suffered I usually took 12-15 bags per load depending on how low the car looked

Yeah it'll help if I can get most of it done myself, Im 58 so it'll be painstakingly slow progress especially fitting it in around work, as I work 45, 44.5 and 38hrs on a three week cycle, 2 long weekends in that though with a friday off one week and the monday off fortnight later.

Ours only allow 3 bags of building rubble etc, I assume that'll be for spoil as well and going back and forth allday won't be tolerated either I expect, skips come in at over 100 quid as well

Being a landscaper I've always found a grab waggon to be a lot less that a skip and get more in or depending where you are there is always a greedy farmer that'll take it for a few quid

When i did my pond 3 years ago.
16 ton grabber truck cost me Ł375.00 ago. I had 3x 16 ton grabber trucks. Pallets bags rubble
Soil clay
Fencing wood. Everything went in there lol. When you think of the labour involved and time.
Money well spent in my opinion

Ha ha, I started off doing 10 sacks per trip and worked up. The last 5 or 6 runs were 16 bags per trip.... In an E46 M3 coupe!
There's a creaking noise from the back and the axle carrier panel (boot floor) has a crack now.
It's a known week spot on these cars so it was probably going to crack anyway. About Ł1000 - Ł1500 to repair.
