Thanks, I'll run 4 inch up and then reduce to 2 it will only be a short run maybe 2-3 foot, i also forgot about the UV which i've got sitting in the garage. As is typical now the patio is signed off its too cold to go out and finish it off so will need to wait for the warmer weather. I need to get back on top of that and completing the pond so that i can get it all cycled and get fish in this year although ill have to pump out the rain water thats currently sitting in the bottom of the pond before i fill it back up again.

i've been looking at equipment during lunch today, im thinking of getting a aqua forte 20000 variable pump for my system would this be ok or would i need the 30000 pump. I'm also unsure which air pump i'd need for my 2 BD's so any advice on these would be appreciated. i have 2 BD so do i go for an air pum on each incase of failure or 1 pump to power both and hope that it doesnt fail. I've seen the matsuko switch boxes, if i get one id just get a normal one couldnt see a need for a timer unless im wrong, how do these work in terms of warrenty with the goods wired into them, i'm assuming most electrical items would come with a moulded plug which would mean butting them off to hard wire, again i'm not sure as ive not looked at any of the equipment i have purchaed so far.

Isn't the aquaforte a more expensive rebranded Jebao?

Id say just one air pump - unless your failure happens to be in the middle of a heat wave it really wont be an issue to have the pond air off for a day or two. If you have a moving bed filter the pump on that is more critical in many ways - I keep a spare pump in stock just in case.
6000g unheated in ground koi pond
    +3000g lily/Anoxic pond attached
    28 koi (40 to 65cm)
Bottom drain & Skimmer to Drum
JBR boichamber->Blue eco 500 pump ->below surface return.
Blue Eco 240 -> Large MB -> Waterfall -> Planted Anoxic pond (25 baskets)

Hailea aco 9730 great little pump - and not expensive (60l/h) - It is over the top for one air dome - would probably do 2 fine.

I went to the local dealer today and ordered my air pump so will be picking that up at the weekend. I've decided to run my skimmer line separate and over the roto shower I have in the garage, this means running 2 pumps and 1 for each return pipe. Originally I was going for a 20000 pump to run the whole system, what should I now run in each line
