Hi Rayman
im looking to install a cistern like yours within my garage with all the pond equipment
I think the best option as I still have my pond empty is to run a pipe from my pond under the water line - half way back to my garage into the cistern
this can work as a over flow and top up
would a 1” pipe from my pond be big enough or better in 2”
have you struggled with the fine adjustment between the top up and over flow ?

Hi Lee. Everything is going well thanks. Had a slight jump in parameters after I moved fish over but I think that was probably new shower media kicking in. Nothing drastic but just had to slow feeding and do a couple of water changes to keep things in check. Other than that all good. Thanks for asking mate. How's things your end?

Hi ray. No mate. Plastering in bathroom done. New floor done.Walls painted. Pipes are all in. Bath in. Been and got the tiles for floor and around the bath. That will be done over the next week. Then once tiling finished then put units toilet in and plumb everyting up.
Should be about 10 days to finish.
Decide not to put a shower cubicle back in as we have shower wet room downstairs. Our lass wanted more units. Stripped all the wall paper off. One bedroom. Now waiting on plasterer.
With this warm weather coming again. You should be able to get by your nice pond and top up the tan ray.
Thats where me and patch my dog was today.
Have a good un ray.
Fred

Here we go again.....my pond build Mk 4
Just read through the Build Ray, really good job.
I have to say for all the labor and other potential aggravation of a ‘block build’ using something ‘pre made’ does seem like the way forward, especially with some of the stuff EZ-Pond now do.

Hi Rob. I do like the Eazy range and if I had come across before I started my build thats the route I would have gone as it is almost a turnkey solution. That said, I still have the satisfaction of knowing I did everything on this. It's my 4th pond and barring the first which was fibreglass, the other 2 were traditional block builds with G4. This just seemed a good solution for the size of garden I now have and its also transportable/ removable in the event we move house. The only down side is it isn't as big as a "proper" koi pond should be. Nevertheless, I can enjoy the hobby in general and my fish in particular again. If we move house, this will be my grow on.

Yeah, apologies Ray wasn’t knocking the Build - I agree totally agree with your comment about satisfaction.
Don’t worry about ‘proper’ - your gallonage is very similar to mine; I also run just shy of 1,000 so I’m with you here at least!!
Yeah, moving house, don’t get me started - this makes that way easier.
Rob.

Hey Rob I didn't think you were knocking it at all, no problems on that front. In an ideal world I would have wanted at least 2 1/2 times the gallonage as a minimum but my fish are happy enough and I'm really pleased with how it turned out. The drum has been a real eye opener. Awesome innovation for koi hobbyists. I would never use anything else for mechanical filtration again. Thanks again for your kind words.

So it's been a while since I updated my thread. All is going well so far. Filters are maturing and fish are growing. There are 3 or 4 I plan to move on in the Spring as they have not turned out how I wanted.
I have just finished building a cover for the pond and in the late Summer I got around to enclosing the shower, so it now matches the rest of the the pond.

Done a good job there Ray and keeping a good temp, are you still running the shower at full speed?
Only asking as I put mine off for the winter and transferred the media to the indoor grow on.
Must say I have enjoyed your build Ray and just proved it can be done with a smaller pond, how many have you in there?John

Hi John. Yes, I am still running the shower full tilt although I'm going to replace the pump with a variable so I can turn it down a bit in the winter. I don't see the point letting bacteria die off by turning it off and with the cover on it will help stop rapid cooling.
I have 14 fish ranging from 20cm to 45cm at the moment. I can heat if needed as return goes through a 3kw Elecro. I am currently looking at fitting an ashp but I don't think I have the space to fit it and still provide the clearance it needs in front and behind, for airflow. Hiw are things with you?
