Relocated the water butt to the rear of the shed and the apprentice is going to paint the boards for the decking step while I fit her a new bathroom. Painting wood seems attractive all of a sudden LOL! Anyway, looking for some input now. I have a multibay filter gravity fed from BD. I also have a bead filter, a UV and an inline 3kW heater to fit. Not currently planned for a skimmer as no trees nearby. What would people suggest is the best way to set this up?

Hi mate. I know you ain't planning on skimmer because of no trees. Believe me. You want to see what ends up om my ultra sieve screen . I ain't had a leaf since December. But by heck it collects a lot of dust that gets in there. And lots of other stuff. Like small fines. And bits of crap and food. I believe it an essential piece of filteration . All ponds should have a skimmer. That way your cleaning top and bottom.
of the pond . My walls are 3 feet high and I still get loads. Mind you I don t know how you could fit one. With this build mate.Happy building the kitchen.
rayman. As I said before. I love this project.

Fred, I think raymans apprentice is going to get a bit of a
shock if he fits a new kitchen, especially as she had her heart set on
a new bathroom lol .

Anne you really made me laugh out loud then! I had to stop and think about whether the shower was going to look odd where the sink is. What with the window facing the main road and all....😂

Thanks for the input Fred. I can always fit a skimmer. It's fairly straight forward. Thinking about it further, we have a new housing estate being built a few metres away and they will be there for 4 years. I already get a lot of sand dust on my car so I will incorporate a skimmer now.
So if I go that route, skimmer to bead filter via heater and pump the multibay back via UV then a shower or a blade? I don't really want the water going straight back to pond after the UV as the algae floculating will simply end up back in the pond, so better if it is filtered beforehand. Just wonder if it will clog a shower up though? I can fit something before a blade to catch it easily enough.
I would like to have fitted a drum but I have no access to a drain or water. I'm in one of these new eco friendly houses where they give you a water butt for the garden. Mains water is right at the front of the house where my kitchen is. Same with drains. All built on front of house with block paving all the way to the back. It is going to be difficult enough getting electrics out to the pond for similar reasons.

Haha nice one ann rayman. Kitchen. Barhroom . Not thinking right. I have a bathroom shower room toilet in my kitchen. Exstention added to side. As well as original bathroom upstairs. Haha. Your lasses face would have been a picture.
Yeah mate. I clean my skimmer every 2 days. Amazing what is on the screen. Sounds good on the system. Making you think a lot. On the way the house is built.

LOL Anne! Broke a few too many plates standing on them whilst in the shower............Thanks for the encouragement. I mentioned elsewhere on this thread that I wanted a drum but had too many challenges with getting water and drainage out back........put my thinking cap on and came up with a solution, hence the purchase today. I am going to run some barrier pipe under the kitchen units, drill a hole through the dining room wall and then another out the rear wall of the house. I can then get water out to the drum. As for drainage, I am going old school - using a bucket! It should all come together nicely. Just got to wait for my brother to come and do electrics for me - hopefully this century! He is an electrician but is always working in London even at weekends. Whatever happens, my fish will stay in the quarantine now until next season.

Nice! I received my QK15 yesterday too. Yours and mine seem to be slightly different designs though oddly. Mine looks like the version on their website.
Why are you thinking you need to get mains water out to it? I wasn't planning to do that with mine. Are you doing an auto top-up or using mains water for the cleaning cycle?
My waste outlet is going to be deposited along a line of Leylandii. They've been thriving on Eazypod washings for years!

Yes they changed the design. Mine was the last one of the current version. Speaking to the guys today, they say they have tried to avoid cost increases by removing the collar around the top. So yours is the new design without it.
I need water for an auto top off as the drum will use clean side water for the clean but this obviously depletes water in the pond.
Tje waste will end up in the flower beds which is where my Pods waste goes too.Last edited by Rayman; 02-09-2017 at 09:34 PM.

Ah ok. Was reading the manual today and it says there is only a 20mm tolerance on water level which I found somewhat alarming. I might have to go the auto top-up route or use tap water for the cleaning cycle. Was thinking of using a water butt as a reservoir perhaps but your plan sounds more professional!

Manual? Mmmm I didn't get one with my unit. I was aware the tolerance was tight. You need the unit positioned 14mm above pond water level they told me. Will have to find out where my manual is. Thought it was odd there were no instructions
