Went to Zante Greece 5 star all inclusive and got my money's worth.

Just measured out for pond and its position in garden, settled on a size of 14 x 9 x 5ft or so deep, been thinking of just having 30 inches of actual pond in the ground and rest above, as I could always raise the ground around it, which will probably be easier than digging it out.

Hi Tom. I went 7 feet. 4 feet below ground and 3 feet above. Then raised my garden 6 inch under Indian stone. To make the walls 2 1/2feet. In height.
