hi ended up ordering a new slide screw in valve from ea site. ended up emailing them. then they gave me a code. and phoned sales in wigan.
very clever on there part. so you cannot go anywhere else. unless you buy different fittings to attatch another valve to it. when I get this delivered on Thursday. and if all fits well. I will the order another one as a spare,
£18.00 with postal charge. valve was 15 quid. so I can t argue with that.
so fingers crossed it fits.
lifes a good un
get in there.

Spent about 3 hours today lol. And a few hours the other day. So quite a few man hours lost. On one measley valve. There clever though . It stops you getting it elsewhere.
I would be quessing on screw sizes
On inner diameters in the female screw thread. Even when you order it. Nothing is given away in size lol
I asked and they just quote the code.
Clever.
Just hope it fits lol.
Thanks for your help. And you to scamp

No worries Fred, I’m sure it’ll fit...as you say they know how to tie you in with non std fittings..I wonder why they have stopped using ball valves on the pod wastes..i’m Sure they did in the past, now seems to be slides again..my pod waste slide started leaking after 2 years, only found out when pond water level was dropping like u..good to keep a spare..

The one on my main pond has a ball valve on the waste and a slide valve on the inlet which could have been fitted by the previous owner but it looks like the same as the set of instructions I have but the one I bought last year from someone from ebay has got but not fitted a slide valve on the waste and a weird collection of rubber boot reducers and a slide valve on the inlet so I'm guessing it is a slightly newer version than the one I have on the main pond?
Am I going mad I think I've just posted this reply on the wrong thread
Just ignore me it was the right place lolLast edited by Frimley Koi keeper; 26-03-2019 at 05:42 PM.

cheers scamp I sent 3 emails out one to ings lane hull garden centre. another to absolute koi and one to ea them selfs. as you can gather ea got back to me. so went down that road and payed for it.
2 hours later ings lane got in touch with my phone. I have dealt with Richard from ings a lot over the years. and he explained to me how to do the ball valve screw in.
I then told him I had already bought the gate valve screw in. then he said you know what them gate valves are like. so I may still do it down further down the line. I might as well use this seeing as I have bought it.
another tip he gave me. was smear some vasaline in the grooves of the valve where the gate sits. and some times it will seal. so I am going to try that tomorrow. and see if that works. he said he has done this and it lasted for quite a while.
cheers again mate

Just out of interest Fred, can you measure the male thread when it turns up just to see if any of the things I measured would have fitted as it may save someone the same problem in the future or if they don't want to use EA ever again lol

Hi Fred, just caught up with this.
Slide valves can be repaired as I did a mod for them a while back.
Basically when you move the handle up or down it feels loose and sloppy,so if you undo the four nuts and get to the seals you will see the seals are not very tight against their seat.
Make a large plastic washer to fit behind one seal to make it sit closer to its seat,I made one for each seal and it was so tight I couldn't move it so one washer is enough.
I made the seal from thin plastic eg one of queni koi food lids, very easy to do and works.John

As the slide valve on my main pond's Eazy Pod is on the incoming side I wouldn't be too concerned about it unless it starts leaking like a 3 canister water purifier made by Finer Filters - sorry I mean a sieve - as I only shut it when cleaning so would just start emptying back into the pond. But if like in Fred's case it's on the waste outlet, that's a different story. I have a ball valve on my waste and that's a bit of a bugger to get to shut 100% and has on more than one occasion been leaking into the tub where the waste empties into and then floods the shed floor Maybe my ball valve occasionally gets a bit of K1 or something stuck in it and that stops it from fully closing?

thats all the spring chores done. top pond cleaned out. UVs both bulbs changed today. and 3 pod filter cartridges changed out. and ran for 15 minutes to sewers. before use on the pond and
grow on. also used that cloverleaf i had from last year, so half dosed the pond. to keep weed at bay. just a matter of feeding the fish. and have some chill time with my and my mate patch. the mad dog.
laying by the pond watching the fish swim around. BLISS. been boiling in my garden today. checked the shed today on the grow on. and no leaks from pipe work or new valve. tell you what I am getting pretty good at this
DIY game. hahaha
