Just joined and finished the marathon of reading through this epic thread Fred - thank you for sharing the ups and downs. lots of useful ideas and information shared.
Sorry to hear of your koi's untimely demise, but you could consider that the old warhorse (war-fish?) was with you throughout the journey and lived to enjoy his/her new home with you.
I have to ask on a different note. Are you singlehandedly responsible for England's brick shortage over the last couple of years? No wonder we aren't building enough new houses ;-)

Sorry missed this bit out brandlin
On the bricks. Yeah a lot of bricks mate.
Why we did the walls and filter house. As well in brick. Was because if you sit in my conservatory. You can see it all blends in. The same bricks. I visioned it with a wooden fence. And wooden filter house. And it would nt have looked right. So the deal was less houses built. And more walls for me. Haha

Was intrigued to find out where the bacteria had come from. That did my showa in. And damaged my chag
So i went investigating.
Checked nexus clean.
Checked upper pond. Clean.
Checked plant baskets clean.
Scratching my bald napper now.
Mmmmmmmmm
Only thing left is the skimmer.
So did some tests on flow from the back chamber of ultra sieve which is gravity.
Scratching napper now. How to do this. I need a flush like bottom drain.
So i got my vacume out. Shut all ball valves. And sucked water out chamber and as much out of 4 inch pipe as i could.
Then open ball valve 4 inch. And it came in far to slow.
Did it 4 more times then the crap started to come out. And flow got faster and faster. Cracked it.thats where it was.
The moral of the story is this. We all talk about flushing bottom drain.
But don t mention skimmers and such.
Another mistake by myself.
Every sunday now for me.
Hope this helps other people

Changed my pump from an 8000lph
To a 15000lph.
The moral of the story is this.
My water hight in pond went 2inch higher.
So it altered my skimmer draw on flow.
Plus it was right at top of my infinity window.
It takes about 6 hours to gain the 2 inches.
Righting the wrong. I played with the ball valve all week. That did nt work.
Then i was sat reading and watching my fish. Out of conservatory. And i could nt hear sound of my trickle out. In the drain.
Only when the drum flushed to waste.
So went and checked my waste chute in the drum. For those who don t know. My drum is set off for pond water height. On a draco. In a nexus.
Yes there was the problem.
Lucky enough i had one more hole left on my brackets. Dropped it. And bingo its back to normal
No way would i have thought that.
So the trickle was topping pond higher. Because of changing to a larger pump.
Now been reset for 30 hours and pond level has stayed the same.
Get in there.
