I am an holderness road boy born and bred. Lived there all my life. My brother lives west hull. His wife is off boothferry estate all my family are east hull. One of my boy's play rugby for east hull. And the other plays for skirliagh.and my brothers boy plays for west hull. So you can imagine the banter in our house hold when there all together. Glad to hear your fish are well.and grow on doing well. What's the grow on for to speed growth twice as fast.i assume it's heated. So as to feed all year round. You must be into it in a big way. Mine are just pets. Good hobby though mate. Take care freddyboy

Ha ha yeah all my family are north and west hull so im naturally a black and white but since fledging the nest ive always lived east lol no mine are just my pets too fred dont have anything real special in my pond mate but i love them. I just fancied a little project for something to do through the winter while the covers are on the main pond and yes its heated but surprisingly very affordable. costs me no more than a fiver a month mate fish have doubled if not more in 2-3 months heres a link to the thread if your interested Grow on/QT project

hi lee good to hear from you like i said i was born east hull . HKR is my team yet funny enough i am the only one in my house hold that is red and white.
yet everyone of my kids was born east hull. i think it goes from the days rovers where not in super league. they tend to follow winning teams. or teams with money ha ha.. yet our dale played for HKR academy and won the league with them. john wilkie of saint helens was in that team then.i liked reading your project on the grow on tank. good read mate. i aint bothering with heating though mate. most of my fish are quite large now. plus there hardy. and are used to the winters now. some of them are seventeen years old now. i have about 17 koi 2 orfs 3 green tench 1 fantail gold fish the wife's. and about 14 rudd. like wise there just pets. it did cross my mind to put heating in the new build but then thought about it. i do not fancy having it covered up.during winter. thats six months of not seeing them. or if you want to. rig moroll of taking covers and all that off. Thats another reason i have gone for 2 x windows.so i can see them even in winter when there on the bottom. how long does it take that titan heater to get to say 19 c . is it good and what is cost of running the heater. you are good at DIY by the look of the good job you did on the bottom drain. you ended in the thread of saying you will finish after Christmas. is it up and running now. good luck mate and be lucky Fred.

    freds new pond build

Hi fred (im on night shift lol) yeah its not too bad would get to 19 no probs i took them up slowly but run at around 21.5c now. I did it because like yourself i didnt want the cost of heating the pond although i do cover it and im holding around 12c at the moment due to sunlight/greenhouse effect i like to say so there feeding slowly now. The titan uses about 5-6 a month so nothing really. Im only 28 myself fred but i was born into ponds (dads always had a pond) marine engineer by trade (did 5 yr in royal navy and now on salt end) so i love DIYing mate. Ive got a mirror and ghosty in mine about 20 yr old and theres an old kohaku that came from my dads which is well over 30. Ive 1 golden tench a crucian a goldfish and the rest are koi about 50/50 israeli and jap ranging from 40-60cm 16 fish all together including the grow ons. The 4 in grow on are last years buys all jap and youngest so i thought them best for trying to get up there a bit quicker. I will stop interupting your thread now freddyboy take care mate.
