I can't work out if that's your lunch time drink or you are a secrete solvent abuser Fred.

I got done for solvent abuse a few years back as I was caught swearing at tins of pain thinner in B&Q

Cheers mate. When I retired I went and did the survival. Only tickets valid now. In case I got bored and went back lol. It would cost me roughly 20 grand. To get back up to speed on all my certificates.
Maybe more when you count hotel s and travel lol. 30 grand.
Plus all full courses. No more refresher courses.
Glad you enjoyed the weather. Most of the guys that worked at HOTA. In my time have retired now.
    All the best fred

seen some of the same old faces there over the last 12/15 years, I keep going back as its so much cheaper than Southampton to do the course and Aberdeen is flipping expensive to fly to,

There is still a couple there. Chris the HLO instructor is still there. He is the manager now. He still does the chopper dunks as well. Also the survival jackets brief. He is part time now. Them two have been there right from the start.
What ship you on now bowsaw. Dive boats.
    I believe.
I got a call 18 months ago. Of the Hawene
Brim. Asking me if I wanted my old job back lol.
I said no. Way. I am happy as I am. I still stay in touch with a few on there.
And they have gone through 6 foreman.
Since I retired. They get there courses done. Then go abroad. More money lol

I work on many thing, hence why I have to get oil and gas tickets, the GWO tickets and also ship tickets, an expensive waste of time since they all cross over so much, though the stcw is much better for emergency training than say the foet

I was the same. Had to keep my merchant
Navy tickets valid. Like if we had to go to dry dock. Under our own steam. I am then changed from rig deck foreman. To bosun.
It's amazing though. How the seamanship just kicked in. Never forgotten lol.
But it was expensive for the company to keep these tickets up to date.
Like take my fire fighting tickets.
Fire team. Helideck fire. 5 day BA. Fire team leader. Closed Tank entry. A joke really. Every 2 years.
    Medical. Plus fitness medical.
And that's before you get to my job duty
    Certs
HLO. Crane tickets. Pump man. It got to the stage. When on leave. I was always on a bloody course.
It got ridiculous. Take the HLO side. For 25 years I used my VHF radio tickets. No problems.
Then the bloody CAA got invoved. Had to pass the pilots comms side. Then the
Materials by air and sea. Nightmare.
The final straw for me was when they said to me. Your also going full time. Materials
Coordinator. No pay rise. Plus the material s guy lost his job.
I dug my heels in. For 3 years. No way.is that happening.
Like I say I stay in touch. The deck foreman
    Ended up doing it.
That's why 5 or 6 have quit since I retired.
I here there on about taking the materials job away from the deck foreman now
Haha. I told them this. There is not enough hours in a day to do all them job scopes.
    It just went stupid.
I will be honest though I miss the sea. Not the rigs.
I used to love travelling the world.
So in that I envy you.
    Fred
