Yes that's exactly what it is one of 3 although the other 2 look like they have survived but can't be 100% sure so just bought another complete set up from Amazon for just under £50 which should be turning up tomorrow hopefully.
I knew there was something I was meaning to do as the temperature dropped
I went out there this morning to find the big bit and filter sitting in the bucket of water under the outside tap strangely enough not right under the dechlorinator but slightly over to the left of it so how it ended up in the bucket I don't know
Filters should be OK to reuse as they haven't had much going through them since they were fitted late last year. So that's 2 sets of spare filters I will have now. Vyair wanted similar money for the filter but then wanted £6 or £7 for DPD to deliver it so thought I'd see if Amazon do them with free delivery - result
Just realised there is a water meter out there too - I wander if that survived?

that's a result mate saving seven pounds. is the pipe work still good to go. hope so. as you know I have nt used my top pond this winter. its thick ice. about 2 inch thick. because it is dormant.
no flow. as I changed the pipe work for winter. to keep pond warmer. I bet there are some bad nasties in there. kept water in to keep plants alive, when spring comes I will have to top it up with PP to kill all the nasties off.
before I flow back out of top pond.
my 3 pod I still buy the cartridges, for pond and QT grow on. but I also ST as well.
have a good un mate

LOL shame I had to spend £50 to save £7 Fred but a saving is a saving and it's almost as cheap to buy the entire 3 pod set up as it is to buy the 3 replacement canisters I think.
Not sure about the pipework and won't know until the stuff turns up tomorrow and see if it flows back to the pond or not as it may still be frozen in that pipework at the moment?
Good luck in the spring with your top pond Fred. The PP won't kill off the plants as well will it? Not used any PP yet.

could you not run some warm water over the pipe work. to melt the ice. mind you the weather is going to warm up this week. so it should melt. no the PP does not kill the plants. if there is any bad nasties that's where they will be. in the baskets. so they need a good soak. I did the top pond last year. and it did nt affect the plants. fingers crossed.
when I clean it I will then pump the water and pp out of the top pond and down the drain. so it does not mix with lower pond water. that would be a nightmare.

It has warmed up a bit and the filter turned up yesterday so may have a look this morning before it rains again LOL
The pipework from the filter to the pond is about 15m and it is all on the surface as it was a temporary job that never got made permanent Fred , bit like water proof sockets with their lids open LOL The pipework is all 15mm ? John Guest? white speed fit so not sure how well it will handle the big freeze. Maybe next time I will attach the pipe from the filter to the pond to an air line and blow the water out of it as soon as the weather starts to change. Question is would something like a 60 or 90 lpm air pump be capable of blowing all the water out of 15m of 15mm speed fit pipe or would the back pressure be too much for it? Then if I need to add any water to the pond after filter cleans etc I could just use the hose and some ST couldn't I. ST works at any temperature doesn't it?
As the snow and ice has melted the pond is now very full - almost right to the top so may need to drop the water level a bit so nothing gets stuck in the netting that's over the top of the pond.

BTW I do mean the top up water feed to the pond and not the main ponds filters being 15mm Speed fit before anyone asks LOL

Another good thing that came out of this. Is
I thought i would have a dead leg on my winter return. As i did nt think
Top pond returns would work from the same t piece pipework. It does.
So no need to ball valve shut now
And forget to flow it a couple of times a week.
I can now keep both running and open RESULT.

hi Freddy,
read through your build to date, very informative, thanks for sharing it all, great for me to read, i am worried about one thing regarding my pond plans which you have read and that is how noisy is the filtration set up, my pond will be quite close to our house with filtration even closer, i have no idea how loud all of the equipment will be when running and being semi detached i do not want to upset my neighbours especially in the summer when they have open windows, i hope to box and insulate all equipment, are any systems noisier than others ? thanks Steve.

Hi mate. Thats why i had a filter house built with brick. Costs more.
But i had it built with the same consideration in mind. You can stand 1 foot away from it. And you cannot hear a sound. Unless i open the doors. Then you can hear the pressure clean on the drum.
You can hear my waterfall. But its more a tranquil sound. Then noisey.
If that makes sense.
I don t have a shower. But would like one added. But it would have to be into the filter house some way.
My gear is halfway is halfway down my garden. About 35 feet away.
Thanks for the kind words on my build thread. If you have read all of it.
Good on you. As it is a bloody long read haha.

Same situation here mate... Not worried about neighbours, but burglars who prowl the back alleys at night.
My pond returns are at surface level - silent.
The air pump is in an insulated shed - silent
The noisy bubbling nexus is inside here, just built from 7n blocks, and has a lid I made out of foam laminate flooring underlay - silent.

Cheers lee. Hope your well mate.
Good to hear from you pal.
Yeah mate that Sealent is very good. I was in to minds to get shaun
The pond builder back. Who built it.
Then changed my mind. Cheap enough to repair. So did nt bother.
Funny enough though he rang me about end of September to see if the pond was good. And no problems. Which i liked.
Good to hear from you mate
