    I have seen something like this before and read an explanation which was along the following lines.

    The fish is bred to be covered in sumi but has white skin underneath so they sedate and cut a pattern into the fish which then heals back to the underlying white skin.

    No idea whether that is true but I have a recollection of something similar that was popular with tropical fish which was fazed out and replaced with a technique where they inject dye into the skin to create patterns.

    Yes I know exactly what you mean they colour Indian glass fish by injecting different colours into the body, I don't think it's the correct thing to do in my opinion , they are living animals at the end of the day and shouldn't be butcherd to appease people's whims, we should be happy with what breeders can create from existing stock, that's my opinion anyway and may not be the same as outher, but if you carnt mutilate dogs , tails, ears ect I don't see why it's apoeptable for fish either if that's the case where they are skinning a live fish I think it's terrible and wouldn't purchase one no matter how good it looked, It would trouble me on a daily basis

    To me it's a disgrace I never knew or heard of things like that am shocked and appalled tbh no there is no chance in the world I would have a fish that has had things like that done to it I couldn't

    True in Indonesia they have done this
