Be kind to crows and seagulls

There have been numerous times I have witnessed herons coming into our area and then be attacked and chased off relentlessly by crows and seagulls who appear to team up.

I have never had a heron land in my garden or take any koi as they are not allowed to get close enough due to our resident squadron of crows and seagulls.

So if you have a lot in your area, be thankful as they are your friend and your ponds security team.

Suppose they may try taking small ones but I'd much rather have seagulls than herons patrolling the area.

We worked out it was only one or two individual birds that had learned to do it (some types of seagull can take surprisingly large fish) ... no problems with crows though ... apart from the amount of droppings under the trees where they nest .....

I've marvelled at the courage crows and gulls have when they see off herons although I don't think in reality they're much more than an annoyance to the heron but ha ho if the heron moves on it's a result for us fish keepers.
I love watching herons in their natural habitat and can't help but admire them even though we're not the best of friends.
