Heron proof rope ?
Hi everybody
After all winter i'm fed up with not being able to see the koi and i cant bear the thought of putting a net back over it.
So i've been to b & q today and bought decorative rope and i've got the 2x2 ready. Initially my first thought was 2 poles on the width and 3 on the length. All being 18 inch high.
I was thinking put the 2x2 directly in the middle of the wood is used to edge it off, put the rope around.
My pond is only 8" raised from the ground and is 10x6x4
But i know these birds are intelligent and are not to be under estimated.
What other thoughts or saftey measures can i take?? bearing in mind i want to use the rope.

If your area is enclosed why not use fishing line we use it in our garden from the the top of the fence across to the house in a radial pattern stopped the pesky critter getting any more of ours.

If you do use the rope pre shrink it or allow plenty of slack.

Ryan make a few brackets and use fishing line it's only a few quid from local tackle shops and almost invisible like already said I would think the heron would be able to Perch on that

Thanks for your suggestions lads.
It is going to be slack the rope and I'm having two rows of it.
Also daz I'm puting fishing line inside the posts. These birds are intelligent and I'm taking no risks.

It's up and running. Two strands of rope on 2ft high posts, and on the inside fishing line just for the extra security.
If I'm honest I'll be surprised if this works. it's something that I have to try though.
