Selling Koi
I recently inherited a large outdoor Koi pond with 22 fish - mostly Koi and a few goldfish. I would like to sell the fish and close the pond. Ideally I would like to sell all of the fish together, rather than separately. I am looking for some advice about the best way to do this. Thanks for your help.

What is the best way to take photos of them? I notice some people have boxes with measuring tapes in the bottom.

Have you got any sort of bowl or plastic storage box you could net them out and put them in? I have used a simple blue plastic storage box with a homemade ruler from a length of plastic and permanent marker to take photos and measurements for my own records.

For pics of the actual fish you can take one directly from above and one from each side, if the pond water is murky as Craig says above use some sort of bowl and dechlorinate some water to put in it to give a crystal clear picture

I wouldnt be catching them up this time of year as it would be stressfull, zoom in with a few pictures and put on here with approx size and say where you are and you havnt got any plastic bags for transport or oxygen,
You wont get much money so open to offers and see how you get on.John

If you can take a couple of general pics of the fish in the pond from above and post them here, we can give you an idea whether these are likely to be saleable or not (in which case offered free to a good home is your best option).
If you're wanting to get a good price for decent quality fish then a good photo from above in a blue bowl is the way to do it, with a measurement. But if you don't know how old the fish are and who the breeder was then there is very little money to be made selling second hand koi.2016 new 6000 gallon pond

Thank you for all of your advice! We are in South Cambridgeshire. I don't know the age or the breeder of the fish, and would be open to offers for them. Most important is that they go to a good home and all go together so we can close the pond. We also have all the pond equipment to sell, but that will need to go after the fish. The water is clear, so I will try to take some photos today. Thanks again!
