    Koi wound identification

Any ideas what caused this, it's been like this for several weeks and doesn't seem to be healing. I have treated the wound directly with the blue antiseptic, cant remember name. Any thoughts?

Hi John. I would put it in a qt tank with salt at 0.3% for a week. Then up the salt to 0.6%. With 22c temperature. I had one like that. It was caused with bacterial infection.
I ain't got a clue on how your fish got that mate. Mine was flashing alot. I put antibac
On mine first. Then as above. Salt and temperature. Took about 8 weeks for the skin to grow back.

As Solvent said it looks very clean and not angry.

Not an expert but I would sedate, treat with a cleaner, and seal it and if possible as Fred said some heat.
Looks to me it would heal ok but needs treating before the cold gets in.

Thanks guys, I'll see about sorting a qt for her and salt bath with heat.
Just weird that it hasn't scabbed over.

John S, I have been useing a product made from a company called Lincoln.
It is a purple spray for horses with minor cuts and gave it a go.
I find it very good as you can treat in the net just spray it on and the wound goes purple and when released it doesn't wash off and heals good.
You have to wear plastic gloves though as it is hard to wash off,and it is only £4.99 for a large spray.

Should have said dpd4 tablets are good for testing chlorine as per Manky Sanky site.

Hi sorry for the delay in replying, I put Dechlorinator in the pond every water change. I tend to put in more than is needed to rule that out. However I'll check a sample just to be sure
    Thanks

I'll get some and give it a go, the wound is still there and open.

    Hi John .

i would definitely get the tablets and check mate .
thats a good starting point to rule out because if chlorine is there the wound won’t heal .
    Best of luck mate

JohnS, if you go on Duncan Griffiths site he is the koi doctor and maybe advise you and he sells all the products.

Needs treating with iodine or similar and sealing, heat would help.

That's a link to the stuff I have used but only for minor cuts etc but it works and easy to apply no sedating,I get it for £4.99 so shop around.
