    Microscope help

    Hi

I havent been in here for ages as we lost all of our fish but one last year and we nearly gave up

However we got everything going again and now have a pond with a few very nice (but smaller) koi

I bought a Bresser microscope after seeing it recommended on here and I have done a few scrapes of the 2 bigger fish and I cant see anything although Im sure something is lurking in there

The attached picture shows our big Matsuba with some damage to his mouth that looks like something is eating away at him.

    Ph is 8.0
    Kh is 7
    Nitrite is 0
    Phosphate is 0.5mg/l
    Nitrate is 20mg/l
    Ammonia is 0

I may not be using the microscope or doing the scrapes properly

    Any advice appreciated as always

I go look at scrapes at 400 magnification
Here is a link to learn a little more.
Hope this helps treating koi pond parasites.

When my fish had mouth rot. I used diluted pp. In a teacup. I tea spoon full. In a cup of warm water. Then cotton bud it on. Then put in qt with 25c heat and 0.3 salt.
And after 4 days. Up the salt to 0.6 salt

Here is a contact Paula Reynolds. Very helpful. Just give her a call. And go from there

    Thanks for the quick reply

I have a Kusuri ulcer treatment kit, is it worth using that?
I dont have any pp but I can get some if necessary, or I have some malachite and formalin, would that be of any use.

I only have a 50 gallon round quarantine tank and this is my biggest fish, probably around 50cm, do you think hed be okay in that small a tank?

Or should I treat the whole pond?

Sorry for so many questions but I dont want a repeat of last year.

If you have the full kit for cleaning the wound. You have got all the gear in that pack.
I used pp because my topical stuff was not working.

Weird how heat get people different. My little one has bad lungs even had a tracky when she was younger and the heat always helped her chest.
