What is wrong with my koi
Hi, I am new to this forum I have had fish for years but lost them all last year in the bad snow, until that point never had a issue with my pond, a heron put a hole in the liner so I rebuilt it and stocked some new fish this year and have had lots of problems.
I have had a few fish die which seemed to be a fungus that killed them so treated the pond with Medifin and did some 20% water changes to try and get the water right (this is something new to me).
I checked the water the other day and the Ammonia and Nitrate were a bit high.
Is this a water issue?
This is the main sick fish but a few others do not look right, eyes are sunken and it is very red.
Any help is appreciated.
Thank you

What were the readings? What size is your pond, what filters etc? This does t look good sonthe more info you can give and pictures of the environment the better I think.

Done a check a few hours ago and I got
PH 7.5
Ammonia .25
Nitrate 2
Phosphate 1
Just been to an aquatic shop to double check and they said the nitrate is high, he has sugested to put some salt in.
I found a dead bird in there today would this have caused the nitrates to go up?

Just a thought but when you put fresh water in did you run it through a dechlorinator

Nitrite at 2 is high, although I’m not sure in isolation that would be the problem. I also wonder if you have a bacterial problem?
if you post your location someone may be local to you?

That fish is (was) in a terrible state and you can see this is an issue that has been going on for some time.
Water is almost certainly the main problem here. The limited parameters you've quoted suggest your pond is not cycled. Before the nitrite got up to 2 mg/l the ammonia would have been at ridiculous levels and that would have burned the hell out the Koi, and if you didn't dechlorinate their water first that would burn them too.
First thing to do is change water until ammonia and nitrite are down to zero. This would best be achieved by trickling in/out until the readings settle down, but ensure the water going in is run through a dechlorinator, or dechlorinator is added to the pond to suit the volume of water being added.
You haven't supplied details of the pond volume, but another problem is that your filter isn't suitable for Koi, regardless of the size of your pond or what it says on the packaging. It looks like the filter being discussed here:

To me it's looking like stress, parasite problem.

The pond floor looks quite dirty too. Or it might just be a reflection. I assume you don't have a bottom drain since you are using a pressure filter?
Running heater at low temp?
Covering the pond with polycarb should be enough to stop water temps dipping below 6C for the most...
