it has that pine cone shape which tells me dropsy,if its in a tank on its own you could just salt the tank, although i will say, normally dropsy is a killer,,andi

I've not seen dropsy start like this before in Goldfish, although I'm more used to the fatter fancy varieties where the first scales to lift are in the middle of the fish.

The eyes popping out is a give-away of oedema though.

Myxazin is basically Malachite Green and Acriflavine (antiseptic).

Can't be certain its dropsy due to what I said above but with the protruding eyes it does indicate dropsy.

My personal treatment for this type of thing is to gradually increase salt to 0.6% and gradually raise temps a couple of degrees a day up to 28C (which I've always believed is too hot for the bacteria to survive, if there is a bacterial infection). That's the only thing I've ever done that has worked.

Once the eyes protrude as yours appear to have, I find the fish rarely survives long term, or it goes into remission for a while then it comes back. I did have a shubunkin like this once and she did survive (for quite a few years), the scales went back down but the eyes stayed protruded for the rest of her life.

All of the above is based on Goldfish - never tried anything like this with Koi before, but I probably would if the situation arose.

    Any more news Johnathan?

I think you will find that gold fish are very cheap and very hardy so make perfect fair ground prizes unfortunately.

    good luck with it AJ.

Scales were raised the other day but with salt in the tank they have got down lump is smaller and he is swimming about a lot more. Toke him to the shop and they said keep a eye could be the start of a tumour that's grown inwards
