i will retreat with FMG again on Thursday.

I’ve been advised I need to treat for 3 week to eradicate all stages of the parasite
What parasite are you treating for?

Sorry but you have been given poor advice.

The only time you would do 3 consecutive MGF treatments would be if the issue was Whitespot, to catch the lifecycle of the critter you need to time the treatments. Straight guesswork that WS was the issue.

I would suggest a good dealer would have tried to facilitate a scrape. That is what is needed.

I watched the koi this morning and didn’t see any scratching so I’ll keep an eye on them but will definitely arrange a scrape.
    thank you

Hmmm , theres dealers and theres dealers isnt there !
I went to a dealer couple of years ago, I wanted fmg for white spot, they didnt have enough in stock, and so even though I said im treating for white spot, he tried to sell me p.p instead insisting it would work.
I replied "P.P is for trichodina and costia, it says that on the packet ", at which point he gave up and walked away, I haven't been back since !

    Hi Crazyreefer,

If there are still symptoms and you'd like me to pop round for a look and to scrape on Saturday after work, let me know and I'll box up the microscope and put it in the van.

I'm assuming you have net / bowl etc.

As you may have guessed from my posts, I'm no expert at scraping so not finding anything is no guarantee of being parasite free, but we can give it a try.

Only thing is, I have to travel back home after and only get 5 hours sleep before the next 12 hour shift so probably won't be able to hang around for too long but am more than happy to try and help out.

Thats very kind of you for offering to pop over but today I was watched the koi in the morning and evening Im happy to say that I did not see any scratching so hopefully whatever it was may have cleared up all koi look lively and feeding well.

i also work shifts I know what it feels like after a 12 hour shift it’s just knackering however if they start scratching again I may ask you for your help but in the meantime I’ll just keep any eye on them.

many thanks for the offer of help

    Crazyreefer,

No worries mate, I shall pack the microscope anyway, and if by some sort of miracle I can pull off a lunch break, I'll drop you a message and see if you're around, or if the Koi deteriorate just drop me a text between now and early Saturday morning and I'll see what I can arrange after work.

Guessing there will be very limited street parking, so would also need to know where I can park.

    Sounds good.

My text replies might be a little slow coming as I'm getting my body clock back onto nights. Even saying that annoys me, having to use my day off to sort bodyclock out rather than actually doing something I like!

I'll be heading home by around midday on Saturday, so let me know if you'll be home from work for that time.

Funny thing is I used to work permanently in your area and drive in everyday, but now mainly around West and North West London, so generally get the train instead.
