Thread: Dying koi

    Dying koi

I noticed the water in my pond was frothing with bubbles, so i started water changing. Fish were starting to die prior to the water change and still now after. Can't be the pump as fish were ok and healthy in 90f last year.

Are the bubbles due to nitrate? Or due to dead fish at the bottom that are now causing fish to die?

I would think it's the protein breaking down from dead fish I had infection and couldn't stop it, it was dead fish hidden in bottom drain and I assume was just spreading infection , I took out all infected and dead fish and treated with pp and that seemed to put a stop to the issue but I lost alot of nice fish before I got it under control I would take action sooner rather than later

Members will struggle to help without more details, to try and help why Koi have died...Have you tested your water? This will give us an idea of what could be the issues, and then offer some advice. Would be helpful also to know the size of your set up, number of koi, plus filtration you have...hopefully a solution can be found asap..
