Anything to worry about?
Picked up the first two of five Koi that were my Dad’s and added them to my pond.
Parameters were identical, temps the same, etc, etc.
I’ve seen one of them just isn’t interested in eating a week on and I have also noticed a white/grey colouration on his tail fin.
Can’t be 100% if that was there before or not. No window in my Dad’s pond.
However, the Koi is quite slow to move and seems to spend a lot of time dorsal down.
All other Koi are spot on and the parameters are also normal.
I’m a bit stumped as to whether this is something or just an old age thing. He’s well over 20yrs old.
Would love to get some thoughts on this.
Cheers.

The only thing I can think of. Is you get some fish. Just don t like change. The fish is maybe stressing because after 20 years in it's one and only home. Its had a big change of environment. And its stressing because of it mate. That's all I can think of.

Cheers Fred. Bit stumped on this chap!
Do you think the grey colouration on his tail is anything? I know there’s a grey’ish tinge to some Koi when looked at from certain angles but wondered if this colouration on this chap was anything to worry about?
I minded to say no it’s not a concern but you know the history of these fish I’m bringing in so I’m just trying to be sure.
Cheers.

Not too sure on it Gray,is it raised at all?
Are we looking at the slight white bits?
Could be a bit of pox,I wouldn't worry too much and as Fred said maybe need some time to settle in.
Did you move them ok Gray?
I remember you were a bit concerned.John

Hi John,
Thanks for the comments.
Yes, it’s the slight white tinge to the fin. It’s not raised at all, perfectly smooth. Almost looks like a dusting when viewed up close.
I’ll just keep an eye on it for now and leave him be as he seems fine in himself, just a bit quiet.
The move of the first two went without a hitch. I was worrying unnecessarily having now done one run. I’m about to head off and get the next one just now.
Then I’ll wait a couple of weeks and collect the last two of which one is the most special to me - 33 year old Ogon.
I’ll post some pics of the one I collect today on my build thread as I’m going to keep that a little more up to date now.
I put a long post in there yesterday with the latest.

Really like what you are doing Gray, it doesn't matter what the quality of the koi are as long as they are healthy and in good hands as yours are.
Can see you are moving them very carefully and good luck to you as you deserve it mate.John

Anything to worry about?
Thanks John, really appreciate the kind words.
I’m taking my time here and not being too keen as it has to work 100%. 2 years in the making this move so to rush the final stages and suffer just isn’t the result I’m after.
As I said before, they ain’t no show winners but they’re our Koi and they’re part of the family. The Ogon is older than my little sister (who’s now all grown up and a vet!) so he’s super important to us all.
Bricking it about bringing him over so I just hope the move goes well as the others have so far. I’m sure it will.
Gotta say, my puddle is looking rather busy now!
The biffa I added today is top right of the pic. Hungry lady this one!Last edited by Gray; 14-09-2019 at 09:11 PM.
