    Flubenol

    Hi folks

Ive been having real issues with flukes , this year . I can usually eradicate them using PP . But so far this year it hasnt worked - so time to up my game .

I read in the Duncan Griffiths manual , Flubenol is pretty good , so I`m thinking of trying it . Seems like its used a lot in the livestock industry , and only available in large quantities . The 600g pack Ive seen advertised would do 20 doses for my pond .

Just wondering if either somebody wants to split a pack with me - providing I can get it , of course , or alternatively , would someone who has some be willing to sell me a portion of the potion ! Either way , get in touch and we can sort something out .

I might add , According to DG , it needs to be mixed with Acetone , which will have to be bought seperately .

Any other info or advice on obtaining and using this product would be very welcome

Should have said Fred had the same problem and cleared them with Chloramine T and Fluke M.

Have a look on his build.

Have you tried the flubendazole based treatment from qq? It seems really well priced, I don't need it(yet) but it seemed to good of a deal to not pick up enough for 2 treatments.

I don't know if it's any good or not but got some for the cupboard just incase. I got enough for 2 treatments for less than the price of 1 treatment of flukesolve, which didn't seem to do much last year.

I have used fluke P. And this year fluke M and CT. Chlomine T to take the mucus of first then the fluke M
7 days apart. They have stopped leaping and flashing. So i assume there ok. Have not scraped yet. The pond fish.
I am leaving them for a week or so.
Don t want to stress the fish to much.

Same here , Fred . I`m just wondering if the long , cool sping has made it harder for the fish to fight off the nasties . Hopefully this warm spell might help out . Will leave it for a few days before anything else goes into the pond !

As far as I’m aware Flubenole is prescription only, unless you can find a friendly pig farmer.

Just had a quick scout round and your right , it is listed as a prescrition drug - but when you go to purchase it just comes up with a few simple questions . I get the feeling I could get it if I really wanted to - but I`ll probably try the treatment suggested by John in one of the earlier replies . Sounds like it contains similar chemicals - but intended for koi
