Koi top lip sore/swollen
Notice one of my koi always looks to have its mouth open so after many attempt i finally caught it for inspection and it does seem to be able to close its mouth however its upper lip does look sore and maybe swollen
my first thought was that it could be an ulcer but it doesnt look too bad, just a bit red and the lip seems to always stick out (the bottom lip looks fine)
also due to its mouth looking forced open i checked for anything lodged in there but couldnt see anything
i did my best to get some pictures but getting the right angle proved difficult
anyway heres the few i did get, hopefully someone here can give some advise. thanks!

Is the koi able to eat ok?
If so, i would be tempted to just wait and see if it gets better. Unless you think infected, in which case i would....
....ask Feline or someone lol
They aren'f the best photos to be honest. Sometimes its easier to video and then take stills from the footage.
How long has it been like it?

it does seem to be eating or atleast it is able to take food into its mouth.. as far i can tell
to be honest is doesnt look too bad, it was just a concern as it looked like it was unable to close its mouth however once i got it out the water i could see it can close its mouth but the top lip seems to be sticking out like when they are grabbing food
i could attempt to catch it again another day for video but it was a real hassle and i dont want to stress out all the fish too much
and as for how long, well.. it was only noticed yesterday so i cant say exactly when but wouldnt be long
im thinking the same thing as you and just wait and see
EDIT : just to confirm the koi is indeed able to eat and seems to be having no issue doing soLast edited by lc123; 20-08-2018 at 02:28 PM.
