Always treat or leave alone ?
Guys,
I left my pond alone for a few years and over that time it deteriorated. I’m now focusing on it again. The water is clear now and I can see that one of my large females has a couple of ulcers on her underside. These are from post spawning stress where she would have been sat at the bottom for a week after taking a beating from the boys.
The ulcers are light pink rather than dark red. Should I still treat it or just closely monitor and look for signs of infection / redness ?.

I think an important question is ; how do you propose to treat? If there is no sign of infection, no broken skin and you are really just look bruising then not sure what benefit there will be?
Some fish will sulk more than others after spawning, my focus in the first few weeks is simply to focus on getting the water quality back.

DaveJ, yes that was the issue, the water quality would have dropped dramatically as I wasn't giving the pond my attention and not flushing the filters as much as I should have been. I'll monitor it closely now I can see the ridges on the teeth 7' down. Will post again if I feel I need to treat and add some pictures so I can get some advice. I've done a fair few treatments in the past including antibiotic injections, but things may have changed over the last few years, so I need to ensure I'm up to date.
