50% + 60% = 110% so did you have to rob some from your other pond after you took 100% from the first pond? Help please !!

Don't worry I'll get my coat LOL
Haha i did a 50% in a oner. Then the next day 5%. Then the next day 5%
    So over 3 days. 60%.
And every thing came under control.
I also trickle in and out.
    I am crap at maths.

I also the other year had the dreaded black algi. Nightmare. Another story.
I fully emptied the pond. Only keeping what was in my filters. And believe it or not after filling back up.
My parameters where all bob on.
I thought i would get new pond syndrome again.
But i never did. So it make s you wonder. Facinates me the chemistry of a pond.
    All the best fred

You aren't putting chemicals or treatments in too soon after each other are you? Or changing too much water too soon after adding a treatment so you are diluting it before it has chance to work?

You say you have tested your pond water and your tap water? Have you tested the water that is coming out of the carbon filters you are using to top up your pond?

No chemicals going in the pond, last week i tried the baking soda route
Yes tested the tap/pond and the water coming out of the 3 stage filter 8.1 today for the tap and purifier.

    Was worth a thought.

Is there any sludge in the pond or filters?

Can you tell by draining some water out of the the Nexus like you can with an Eazy Pod?

You didn't get your grams and milligrams mixed up when you dosed the pond with bicarb or whatever you last used?

How accurate is the test kit you are using and what are your current readings in the pond?

Cant tell with the Nexus ,regarding the bottom of the biological filter side muck/sludge.(drain tomorrow after nights).

Used the better half`s fancy kitchen scales so hopefully measurements were ok.

Using the API test kit for Ammonia/Nitrite/Nitrate/GH, digital test probes for PH/TDS very recently calibrated.

Hopefully the more you can rule out the easier it will be to get to the cause of the problem.

Ray on my nexus. When i last emptyed. I noticed my air ring was to high. So i have bought a manifold and put 6x airstones in the bottom.
As the crud was on the bottom.
Building up. Plus i have a drum in my nexus. I run the air ring and the 6 airstones now.

Also mate is the bottom drain getting a good flush out. And the bottom of the pond has it been hooverd.

    Hi Fred,

Have had airstones in my nexus for a couple of years now for noise reasons,
I`m going to empty the nexus when i get up just finished nights now thank the lord an see what or whats not hiding in the bottom !!.
Bottom drain gets flushed quite often via the seive, bottom was hoovered about a month ago.

When you do the drain does it really flow fast ray through the sieve.
So guessing here. Is your pipe work got a t from main drain to sieve and nexus. Or have you got 2x bottom drains . One to each filter.
