Hi all my koi are fine except this one

    Any ideas on treatment
Seems to be mouth ulcer or tumour?

Is treatment possible ? Or is mouth to far gone? Thanks phil

That looks like maybe carp pox to the mouth which has become a little infected. Possibly a bit of mouth rot too.

    What are your parameters?
    Pond volume?
    Temperature?
    Have you seen it feeding?
Any rough or sharp areas it could have damaged itís mouth on?

Any way you can quarantine it with a buddy and heat the water?

I had two with mouth rot and ulcer on mouth. I used pp paste. Did that a few times. Put them In my qt. Then salt and heat. 0. 3 salt for 24 hours then took it up to 0.6 heat was at 24c.There fine now. Took about 8 weeks.Agree with laura. You need to find the cause of it. So check parameters and filters. I had to pp paste as it started to eat away to the bone. And you have to act quick. Good luck with it mate.

    Can the fish still eat?
    What's your current pond temp?

I would be looking to get that into a heated salted QT first, which will give the fishes immune system a fighting chance if the cause is viral, and also enable healing to start.
Could be worth considering antibiotic injections too if you're able to get the temps up high enough. Infection around the mouth is that bit harder to get at with topical treatments, although if it's not attacked the jaw bones get it's always an option.

Ok so got the fish into a small emergency made quarantine vat
I've dosed the water to approx 2.5g per litre
    Of salt
I've got air stone in and Will be trying to setup some filter asap tomorw
Havnt any filter or pump bits right now so will do water changes and rig some old bits up
Also got a heater in and aiming for 18 degrees?
Havnt run a quarantine before and it's smaller the i should have bit koi isn't too big so will do as it's emergency
    Any more advice appreciated

Have took more photos so I can see if there's improvement

Should I actively address the mouth issue with iodine or anything? Thanks phil

In the past when any of mine have had a mouth issue I have used a pp solution, 1/2 teaspoon of pp dissolved in boiled water in an egg cup. Leave to cool, then paint it onto the affected area, rinse and repeat a few times. Do this every other day.

Any dead nasty looking tissue needs cutting away.

There's been a development in the fact that the fish died shortly after I put in quarantine
Upsetting as made a effort with this treatment but believe I probably rushed the fish into the quarrtine vat and didn't properly acclimatised it.
The increase in temp and salinity must of been too much
I feel bad as I should of done better was distracted and in a hurry
    Was a beautiful fish too
    Damn.....

sorry to hear of your loss mate. don t blame your self. you at least tried. and that is the main thing. some times we have to be quick in doing things to try to save a fish.
looking at them photos of the fish s mouth. in my opinion it needed doing quickly. i found the best way to heal the mouth rot was as laura said was a PP paste soloution
    then salt in quarantine

keep a good eye on the rest of the fish. as that has come from some where. either in the filters or the pond. un less it was carp pox. thats turned septic. hope all goes well for you. .
