Hiya Mark.
Sounds like you might have it sorted. Nothing worse than having a problem and not knowing what's causing it. Of course, until you've done the scrape you can't be sure, but it just shows the value of a microscope.
Cheers...Freddy.

Hi Mark
Did you not see the white spots on the fish before you did a scrape? Did you just do a scrape to confirm the diagnosis.

nope, no white spot seen at all on fish. but when under microscope clearly seen. i was very surprised to be honest as thought it was going to be trick or costia. but having done the 5 day treatment all seems ok now but will do another scrape tomo to make sure all is ok.

I'm sure you have got it sorted m8 , just a bit odd that there was no visible signs i have known it with very few spots showing but never none,as i'm sure as a tropical fish keeper you will confirm.

right then just done a scrape on the same fish that i did last week that had white spot on, well today not a thing at all on it. looks like the EX5 has worked great and got rid of it all. looks like the fish are all clean 100% now so im a well happy chappy. but the red marks on the same fish are still red abit so not to sure on whats the best thing to do now. was thinking of maybe giving it a strong salt bath of maybe 3 ounce per gallon and seeing if that helps clearing them. what you think steve. done all water tests and ammonia is on 0.25 nitrite is on 0.25 and ph 8 temp 25c. mark

Really nice to see a new person going through the learning curve and coming out on top...goood for the fish and good for the ego.
One question EX5 is malachite green and formaldehyde I think....should he watch his filters closely or does the 5 day recommended schedule have kittle impact of the filters which are probably on just coping at the moment?

Well I would not say I'm new to koi keeping as had a 4000 gallon 9 years ago. As for the filter's I have done water tests and nitrite is on 0.25 but have 24/7 water change going so it's not such a prob really. But must say I have learnt on how to use a microscope and will now be buying a better one for sure now.

No insult intended about the new guy but life is about continous learning so its still nice to see people learning new things and winning.
I have found that a microscope with a usb camera makes all the differnce. Spent many years in a lab with a monocular scope, would have loved to have had todays technology, not onlt don't you get a stiff neck but you can share your photos.

Very much agree with you on the learning all the time. I'm sure going to be buying a microscope with a USB for sure as I bet you can see it even better then with your bare eyes lol. I had learnt back then how to inject fish but would not have a clue now lol.

Lol it's not a thing I took lightly when I did it. I saved a £800 fish of a friends back then by doing it. Would need to read up again on it all.

Hi all I have recently noticed a number of my fish getting what seems to be white lumps on their scales. please take a look at the above photo, as I would like a second opinion on what it might be and the best treatment to cure this, ideally one that can be added to the pond as a whole.
Many thanks
Chris
