Climbing plant on pergola ??
Good morning everyone
I've got a large raised pond with a pergola above it that I want to plant a Wisteria along side of it so it grows over the top.
Are there any pro's or con's for having plants above a pond ?? that anyone is aware of, I know there will be debris coming off it, but is it harmful to my fish ??
Any advice much appreciated
Thanks everyone
Ian

Morning Ian!
Personally, I would plant a wisteria to go over the pergola as although I don't think they're harmful for the fish, the amount of mess it'd make when dropping blossom and then leaves would be quite substantial when it becomes more mature.
I have a wisteria on the front of my house, and I love it, but wouldn't have it anywhere near my pond! Just my opinion1630 Gallon raised pond
4" 'Avenue' bottom drain
Estro sieve
Econobead EB60 bead filter
Sequence 18000 pump, 6000 pump on skimmer line
Elecro 2kW in-line heater
Evolution Aqua 70 air pump
Standard wall skimmer
Hozelock Vorton 55watt UV
and some nice koi

I agree with miles. Also have on the front of the house and it’s stunning, but the mess on the drive is unreal, wouldn’t want it near the pond. Also need proper pruning to flower well and that would be death defying over a pond of any size….

Sorry Ian but Wisteria is listed as "all parts toxic" to pets and humans. I assume that would also include fish.
