Yes Rs I do know what you mean.
For a few years i have bought in the autumn 4 to 6 ins koi to grow on in my heated tank over the winter.This i have really enjoyed doing and seeing them developing and yes i do get attached to individuals as they all have their different characters.
So it is hard to see them go but i keep which ones i like and they grow further and sometimes they go in the end.
I have a couple which I have had for nearly 18 yrs and they will never go,the biggest one orange/grey dont know what he is called but he is a real heavy weight and used to rule the pond till the Chags appeared.

great collection there john. my favorite fish the the chag. great characters. and i agree i hate getting rid of any of my fish. breaks my heart.

Thanks for all the replies,looks like we all like a shag and Familyman started that thread.!!!!
I have one which has pink eyes and he is staying in my pond,so tame it is unbelievable,first up for a stroke on his brow, am I getting soft.John

Pond still covered, currently 11.6C Been really mild this year as far as pond temps go. ...
