This is one that got away last weekend, my agent was bidding for it for me at Bangkok auction and it went for £20 over my limit , so I lost out, but he reckons if I’d carried on bidding it would have gone even higher

I paid 6000 baht £130 depending on the exchange but I got the cheapest one they were 2more at15000 baht . It’s about 45 to the pound now . Yes they are readily available but mainly from bangkok , I use an agent in Khon Kaen he sends me photos when he’s at the fish farms in Bangkok then flys them up . There are a lot of rich Thais into koi and the fish are really good but too expensive for me . I spoke to a uk koi dealer once and he told me that when he goes to japan all the very best fish had been sold already to Thai farms . How much would that fish be in uk ?

These are eight i bought last April as 1yr olds about 6ins originating from Ogata Japan, not show quality but decent koi so i think,i paid £100 for four or £200 for the eight which was a good price.
They have grown well in the summer and i am looking forward to removing the covers next month to get the feed going.
I like to buy this size and watch them develop though i bet yours grow a lot faster in your temps.John

Nice I like to do the same it’s much more fun growing a fish fro 6 inch and yes my grow so fast . When I first built 11yrs ago I only put Thai koi in at 2 inch and made all my mistakes on them and I’m glad I did they were 20 pence then I sold them all for £20 each re did my pond then started again
Running heater at low temp?
Covering the pond with polycarb should be enough to stop water temps dipping below 6C for the most...
