I am a new member of the EMKC myself having joined in February, I have attended a meeting at one of the members ponds which was a really chilled out event with food, drinks and like minded members & partners talking away into the evening.
Looking forward to the forthcoming coach trip to a UK koi farm1kGal BD/Skim RDF/UV/k1 2.3kGal 2windows 2airBD/skim Sieve/Eazypod RDFcombi+bakki 3xVP/UV,ASHP

What part of the East Midlands are the indoor meetings held?

At present there are no indoor meetings in the calendar, however previously there were regular meetings held in Shardlow ( between Nottingham and Derby) .
Due to long term illness of committee members there were recent changes at the AGM in April, the fresh input of active members of the organisation has helped in evolution of both communication via Social media platforms, you tube, Facebook, TikTok, instagram etc. and also new ideas being suggested of trips to other koi groups, koi shows, members ponds.
I am aware of members living in the Nottinghamshire,Derbyshire, Staffordshire & Leicestershire areas. The committee have already planned new events such as a trip together by minibus to Adam Byers ( last year it was Cuttlebrook). Meetings with koi related demonstrations or talks are being planned. I am aware of new members joining within the last couple of months.
The group is a very social collection of non judgemental koi enthusiasts & their partners who natter away over a coffee, glass of wine, barbecue, nibbles. With great conversations about the finer points of the latest filter, or the name of the lovely acer growing next to the pond.1kGal BD/Skim RDF/UV/k1 2.3kGal 2windows 2airBD/skim Sieve/Eazypod RDFcombi+bakki 3xVP/UV,ASHP

I live about 15 minutes from Shardlow, the June pond meet is in Swadlincote and the July meeting is in Burton upon Trent. I am down to host the open pond meeting in September in Long Eaton, so not too far from Bedworth. We have a members Christmas dinner at a suitable restaurant too

Our meetings are generally held at member's homes as what we call open pond nights. Member's are largely from Burton, Derby, Nottingham and surrounding areas. As Mike says our next pond night is in Swadlincote and July's is in Burton-upon-Trent.

EMKC visited us at Adam Byer Koi Farm last weekend for a farm tour, and they're certainly a friendly bunch. Well worth looking at for a koi club if you're in the East Midlands.
