    Solid roof on a conservatory

Hi all,as above thinking of getting rid of my glass roof and putting on a solid one.
Anyone done this and is it a lot better?
Does it make it a lot darker? I have glass to the bottom on the sides.
    What price have you paid?
Had two quotes and a lot of difference, one supply only or can fit.
Think it maybe too much for me at my age.

Gather you need planning regs is that so? As I have a door going in from the house.
    Thanks all.

What's your thinking behind it John, excessive heat?

My Lean-to roof is polycarb. Extremely hot in summer. One excuse to get rid of it would be to make pond covers from it!

But I've also been thinking about the possibility of ceiling blinds to cool it down in there.... Could that work?

Be tempted with something like this first

Canít see the point of a conservatory myself lol. Freezing in the winter, a greenhouse in the summer.
    Great for plants though

    Hi
Blinds wouldn't really work rs if the room is say 100 it would only make it say 95 so you still wouldn't sit out there.
You can get an insert that you push up inside did this to my father's and it's made quite a difference.
Blinds are good for controlling light, reducing glare etc.
My trade is soft furnishings so fit blinds all the time.

Be interested to know how this goes I'm planning a pergola at the moment and was originally going to put a solid roof on until I was advised to put polycarbonate on top to let the light in
