Paypal warning
Just to warn people selling things to be wary of people offering to pay with paypal,i sold a uv to a guy on ebay,no one on here, who paid via paypal but then said item didnt arrive, had a very stressful lengthy process of proving it did as i sent signed for delivery, but needless to say paypal immediately refunded his money and cant pay me as hes disconnected the account he used to pay in first place so ive lost out,was only £30 but not the point,in future all my dealings will be cash or direct bank transfer, just to warn you guys, all the best andi

Agree there Andi, presume it was Ebay who will refund the buyer if a so called problem occurs.
I have bought and sold loads of items on Ebay and when I sell I will always put cash on collection or as you say bank transfare.
Sorry you had to loose out Andi, there are some scum bags out there unfortunately.John

Ebay seems to be on the buyers side Andi, when I did sell with PayPal they wouldn't let me have my money for 3 weeks so I never sell with PayPal now,as you say Andi lesson learnt.

I was a business seller on eBay (over 62000 transactions) and have some incredible stories to tell about fraud. I closed up in the end due to exactly the same reason andikoi states. I'd say around 1 in 20 items resulted in a charge back due to claimed non-delivery. Sometimes you have to sell another 20+ of that item just to recover the loss.

It is a great shame criminal types have started taking advantage of this loop hole. It does work both ways though I wouldn't be happy buying from someone demanding bank transfer - at least unless they had a lot of positive feedback over a good period.
6000g in ground koi pond
+3000g lily/Anoxic pond attached
29 koi (40 to 65cm)
Bottom drain, Mid water & Skimmer to Drum
JBR boichamber->Blue eco 500 pump ->below surface return.
Blue Eco 240 -> Large MB -> Waterfall -> Planted Anoxic pond (25 baskets)

The current "loophole" is as follows.
Sellers now have to upload tracking details to eBay for every parcel they send. If this is not done at the time of posting then any claim from the buyer for non-delivery will automatically apply and a full refund given. The delivery to the buyer is subsequently tracked by "eBay" and the buyer wont be eligible to claim non-receipt.
With this new policy fraudulent buyers are receiving said item, then claiming it is faulty / not suitable etc and returning the item through the returns process. The returns process requires the buyer to print out a returns form from eBay and stick it to the parcel they are returning.
As soon as the barcode on the returns form is scanned by the post office, eBay consider the item as returned and refund the buyer.
However, what fraudulent buyers are doing is either returning empty boxes, or changing the returns address to that of a friend. Drop the item in the post, it gets scanned, the buyer gets refunded, and a couple of days later the item gets re-delivered to the buyers friend!
One case that I remember very well was selling an item for £70 to a regular customer. I posted, the buyer confirmed receipt and left positive feedback.
Suddenly the money was taken from my Paypal Account with paypal stating the funds had come from a stolen card. As it was a regular customer I phoned him to clarify what was going on. He said he used the same card he always uses which is his personal card and it has never been stolen and that he hadn't reported anything to Paypal.
I called Paypal who used the data protection act to avoid giving me any information, they would only state what they'd already said - The chargeback occurred because a stolen card had been used.
Fortunately the buyer was very helpful and he called Paypal to question what was going on.
The whole process took 3 Months and eventually Paypal refunded the money, but it left me wondering how many other losses I'd taken through chargebacks that may have been Paypal stealing my money.Last edited by RS2OOO; 07-02-2019 at 05:20 PM.

I'm always a bit wary of any PayPal options when I buy online and prefer credit card payments as at least they are sort of insured if something goes wrong and you have time to chase the card company up.

Its the way the world is going unfortunately .Nobody wants to go to work anymore. They all want to sit at home robbing people like us who do go to work. Most things you buy new off Ebay are fake..Andi,if hes disconnected his account, that should be Paypals problem, not yours
