Greetings from the Emerald isle
Hi all, thought it was time to update you our life in lovely Co Mayo. All work and improvements on the property are now complete although we had a problem 4 months ago with the drains [septic tank] an added expense we could have done without.Had a really nice summer here and have done plenty of exploring and discovered many stunning places. Everybody over here are very friendly and we get involved in local functions big or small, the only drawback with this is that people tell us we have to learn to dance [don,t hold your breath].Been very busy in the garden [1 1/2 acres]and managed to get the meadow cut back and mowed with the help of one of our very friendly farmer friends.Still no sign of a pond or better still a lake yet but still not ruling this out, just have to convince my financial advisor [the wife] that this is a good idea.Hope you have all had a good growing summer and the high temps have not caused any problems.Looked at the Kent Show website and as always a very good well organised event with some stunning koi entered and for sale, hope those of you that attended had a great day out. Will post again one day, for now all the best from across the Irish sea. Bob.

Hi Bob,
Glad to hear you have settled in Co Mayo lovely place though i am from the North.
Sounds like you have an ideal garden for a lake easy to do if you get a digger in,are there any dealers over there?
What do you think of the Guinness? Probably a bit pricey as i believe the cost of living is quite high over there.
You have probably noticed quite a few builds been happening on here,so we need to get you on here with your build.
Take care Bob.John

Hi John, taken sometime to reply, been away. The Guinness is priced ok,tried some when in the UK last month which was ok but it does seem to be thicker here and i,m sure the taste is slightly different even the wife has got a taste for it.Still undecided about the lake although everytime i go down the meadow i do think about it and were and how big i would make it.The neighbour who cut the grass back for us also has a JCB so the jobs almost done. Biggest problem would be Herons, as i have mentioned before we are very close to Loch Beltra which is a Salmon and Trout lake with a large Heron population.Hope everything is going well with your pond and the koi have a healthy winter.Cheers for now,Bob.
