    New TV

Wev`e just bought a new 55" all singing & dancing smart OLED TV.In fact it`s so superior that it won`t talk to to our home cinema system. We`ve had to fork out for a new sound bar & 4K DVD player,it`s a bit like my car,so many buttons & menus on that i daren`t press anything as i cant guarantee to get it all back to where i started.I remember the days when i just twiddled a tuner knob.Progress?,probably.

I remember my Dad renting the black and white telly from DER? The highlight was watching him “fixing” it by bashing the top pretty much every 2 hours

Lol old in body, young at heart New TV
There’s loads of things that kids now won’t ever experience. Kicking a proper leather football, decent cap guns, Raleigh Chopper bikes (the one with the gear shifter right where your nuts ended up not the health and safety friendly ones you can buy today)
Happy days eh? I could go on for hours.
My eldest kids have Xbox/PlayStation and it’s a struggle to get them off their backsides sometimes

Trainspotting,Meccano,Hornby Dublo model railways( i`ve still got & operate Hornby Dublo trains & have a large Meccano outfit)but the trainspotting has long gone.I can find only one advanatage in coming up to 75 is that i get a free TV licence so we can watch our big screen in the knowledge that i don`t have to financially support the BBC any more.

The tv tuner where you had to literally turn the knob for each channel..

And come on own up who actually stood up when the national anthem came on at the end of the night on the bbc !.
Or your parents or grand parents did..

Kids today don’t know they’re born.
I think we only had like 2 channels and the highlight for kids was “tales from the riverbank” or “watch with mother”.
The revolution in TV viewing that came along around the same time as VHS was immense!
The Danny Baker tv programme “cradle to grave” sums up my late 60’s, early 70’s childhood perfectly. There’s a scene where the family are watching a bit of coronation street over and over again on video...that was our house (except it was probably a Bruce Lee film) lol
