    "The Loyalty Penalty."

    This never stops does it?

Each year when I get either my car or house & contents insurance renewal notice, the insurers always try it on. I was notified of an increase of 14% in the latter today.
So I phoned them up and said it wasn't acceptable.
After a lot of waffle about all insurances are going up, which I cut short by saying, that as I hadn't made a claim, ever, I didn't want to know, so cancel it. There was a silence.

Then, I got the usual "Oh hang on! I see you phoned and complained last year and we reduced it. I can see I can reduce it to £2 less than you paid last year."

    "Oh what a surprise!"

    Sorted!

I guess they rely on people to accept the nonsense that accompanies your renewal notice. I ignore all that and just look at the figure, then reach for the phone.

They might be a business but what about customer loyalty.
If a company gives a good service and great loyalty discount then the best advertising that company can get is customer recommendations
It only takes one bad feedback to potentially create a bigger snowballing problem.

I seem to remember that the missus used to insure her focus with kwikfit yrs ago and they where relatively competative she would ring them and it would come to to £10 or £20 more thannthe previous year then after a few years it suddenly went up from £390 to £1500..
When phoned to ask why they said it was due to the increase of accidents etc and claims....
In they end they where basically telling her to take her custom elsewhere by doing so she got a deal less than she was paying anyway originally.
So t pays to shop around..
