Help.... Bad Ulcer
Help !
Can anyone reccommend a good ulcer treatment please? I have both Kusuri and NT Labs ulcer kits but i don't think they will be effective on this poor victim. The poor creature is in a lot of pain. I thought a salt dip might help? Or TCP?
Picture below.
Lol sorry, it's not a koi. It's me. On the side of my tongue and it's exactly level with a jagged back tooth that i broke earlier in the year?
Would salt water/TCP 20161018_151535.jpggargling help?

Looks nasty - warm salt water 3-4 times a day (don't gargle, swill it round like a mouthwash for about 30 secs) + speedy trip to dentist to fix the razor tooth!!

Thanks Louise. I had an appointment booked for this morning but i bottled it. I rang and told them i had a bad cold, which is true.
White round the outside of an ulcer means it's healing though right?
Apparently it might be down to the antibiotics i took when i cut my arm.

To me it looks like your tooth is shredding your tongue, at best it's irritating the sore, either way it won't heal without a trip to the dastardly dentist ....... If antibiotic for arm is a factor you might need a trip to the Doc as well (sounds a bit of a long shot to me though!).

Try the iglu stuff until you get your tooth sorted. It may stick your tongue and cheek to your teeth though but it help protect it.
Regular rinses with salt water as mentioned above.
And get your arse to the dentist!

You could try the age old Brandy mouthwash trick........1/2 - 3/4 of a bottle !! it won't hurt after that!

Today it hasn't been as bad. I'm not sure whether that's because....
A) It's on the mend....couple of days and it'll be right as rain.
B) I've just become used to it. I have subconsciously figured out how to eat/talk/drink without it hurting as much.
C) Lots of codeine.

Salt and vinegar crisps are great for mouth ulcers if you like pain !
As someone said ....get to the Dentist mate ! .....if its catching on a tooth they will know and sort it ..... they come back worse if you dont and can get infected ( been there ) .then your knackered and how long before your jagged tooth starts to ache ?
Totally been there mate with the pain ...and wished i had gone sooner 0(
Bonjela is also good as a temp measure

You could try putting some orthodontic wax onto the jagged tooth. It's designed to make braces smooth to protect your gums from ulcerating and could give instant relief from the pain. Chemists should sell it (and online). Obviously getting the tooth sorted out would be the best longterm solution.

Got some bonjela. It does keep the pain at bay but the ulcer doesn't appear to be receeding.
It doesn't look like i can avoid the dentist.

Ad. A boy. Andre, get your brave heart head on and get to the dentist. I hate dentists too. Last time I went I had a tooth out. And 3 fillings over a 2 day period. It s not what they say about the problem you go for that bugs me. It the rest of the stuff they find when they have a look. Ha ha, I go now every 6 months promptly. That 2 days was hell.

Running heater at low temp?
Covering the pond with polycarb should be enough to stop water temps dipping below 6C for the most...
