    Feeding temps

Just a question on feeding in low temps . My pond is holding 17/18c as I have a heater running but if it gets really cold and heater can’t keep up and it drops, at what temperature should I stop feeding? As summer is gone and the temps have dropped i have started feeding low protein sticks to the fish, which started few weeks back. Cheers guys Feeding temps

Hi mate. I watch temperature forecast for a week. If the temperature stays between 8c to 10c in the pond. for at least 4 days.
I will feed them. Low protein food.
Wheat germ food. Right now I am feeding OSW food.
Last year with cover on. Mild winter. They got fed nearly all winter.
    Hope this helps.
    Fred

I feed between 8c and 10c so lowest is 8c. anything above 8c I feed. but it has to hold for a few days. REASON it takes longer for the food to digest. if you get a sudden drop in water tempreture , it could hurt the fish
I lost a couple of fish a few years back. that's why I go by that. I went five years without feeding at all through winter. in the early days. no covers as well then.
people have there own ways of doing it. some feed. some don t. I do if its like as above. that's just my way. everyone has there own way of feeding. that's just my way. take last winter, they got fed nearly everyday as it was a mild winter. I think it dropped below 8c only once last year. I think that's why my fish have had good growth this year, as they have been eating all year round.
plus my bio colony kept going in the pond. and filters I believe.
