Profi feeder - water in control box
Hi
I have had my brand new profi feeder running for just over a week, and been working fine
came home today and had completely emptied a full load into my pond !
Took a a while to work out and found that the control box had rain water inside
I checked the instructions and does state not water proof
for such a highly rated feeder to have this not water proof seems crazy to me
all I can think to do is to is to extend the cabling with a water proof joint to mount in my garage which is approx 10m from the feeder
as as soon as I realised what had happened I turned the power off as the screen was still lit
took the back off and dried off with compressed air
do people think this will be ok or will I need to replace the control box if this is a option
im planning to leave quite a while to dry out
I’m just worried it will work ok and then down the line have a malfunction again
thanks

should be fine, you could put a few of those silica bags inside it to help with moisture, also why not just put it in a waterproof enclosure, you can pick them up for about a tennar,,,,andi

If you haven't got any silica bags you could put the controller in dry rice for a few days that will help draw out any moisture.

I'm surprised it isn't water proof too as the controller is hard wired to the feeder so can't be removed so you can stick the cable through the wall and mount the controller inside a shed or garage etc.
I've got two of them currently waiting to be fitted on the main pond and the Quarantine Tank and if I hadn't seen this thread I would have mounted the controller outside most likely. I had the one for the main pond running a few years ago when I had a wooden shed which was knocked down and replaced with a brick one but can't remember where I had the controller mounted but think it may have been in the shed with the lead running under the shed door?
How easy is it to get the back off it?
As your one has got wet and you have or are in the process of drying it out it may have damaged the electronics inside the controller so it may work for a short while then stop?

If it's brand new then maybe best to invoke the warranty and exchange it for a new one?
I kept my Profi outdoors until I built the new pond. For neatness I have the controller in the filter house now with all the other switches and timers. I just cut the wire and threaded it through a hole in the wall to a junction box- it's just a standard 3 core cable so a trivial thing to rejoin really (but you might want to check this does not affect your warranty).2016 new 6000 gallon pond

It won't effect the warranty on either of mine as the original one I bought new probably over 5 years ago and the second one was bought second hand from a member on here so neither would be still under warranty in my case. I'll go and find my cutters now then

I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t be able to claim on the warranty, I’m worried about drying it out and getting it working only to empty again a few months down the line
Does anyone know if you can just buy the controller?
i think a water proof box is the best option but very ugly looking in my position

A water repellant spray like Tool in a Can,Q 20, WD40.
Can drive the moisture out.
I would keep it away from the screen
Check the rubber door gasket and any top entry electrical glands or mounting screw exit points not sealed
Every day feeding container?
Good shout, I'll have a look at Takazumi :)
