    Queni koi food

For a few years now i have been feeding q/k jap mix but as stock is nearly out i am thinking of trying a different q/k food.
I have been looking at the Ultimate mix or ultimate growth does anyone use these foods or what q/k one do you use?

Must admit growth has been slow so this is the reason for changing but i want to stay with their food as their service is very good.

Thats very interesting Lee,do you buy it in small quantities?
The ultimate koi is very high protein at 54% but i was steering towards the ultimate mix with the garlic and is cheaper in 15 kg,does that have a bit of sinking same as the jap mix ?

I dont think theres any sinking in the ultimate mix john? Cant say ive noticed anyway. I buy in 6kg batches. Not had any doc (froth) issues with any of it myself.

I've fed most Queni/Coppens koi food and I think it's pretty good at the price point. Queni do both floating and sinking Ultimate mix but I wouldn't recommend the sinking. The sinking I had was very dry and powdery all the way through the bags.

I have a koi with a deformed mouth who has a lot of trouble surface feeding - I have taken to adding in a bit of the QK sturgeon food in - you could do the same if you want a bit of sinking in the mix - koi seem to love it.
    6000g in ground koi pond
    +3000g lily/Anoxic pond attached
    29 koi (40 to 65cm)
Bottom drain, Mid water & Skimmer to Drum
JBR boichamber->Blue eco 500 pump ->below surface return.
Blue Eco 240 -> Large MB -> Waterfall -> Planted Anoxic pond (25 baskets)

Eventually i went for 15kg of q/k ultimate mix for £86.95 incl post which came the next day hows that for service.

The label on the bag said "Kenko food" which after a call to q/k said it was coppens,it is very very clean no dust at all and smells good and they seem to be enjoying it so will see how it goes.

    Hi John,

How's the Kenco ultimate mix going, you've been using it a few weeks now.

I've always fed Medikoi Health, but after reading a few posts on here about the QK food I decided to give it a go, and like you I am struggling to decide which one to use.

The ultimate Mix has the best ingredients in it to me, much more animal proteins and less cereals, which if I was eating it is what I'd go for.

So what's it like? Do the fish like it? And most importantly, what's the waste like? (I get virtually no physical waste from the Medikoi, it's incredible)

    Cheers,

    Jay

Hi I've been using the ultimate mix for around 2 yrs now & can't fault it. Fish love it negligible waste & a reasonable price. Water stays nice & clear as waste is solid & easily caught in the drum. Would recommend to anyone & it's next day delivery so all good in my opinion.

Hi Jason sorry for late reply.
Yes i like it and the fish are doing very well on it growing good, mind you i have been feeding a lot of mussels and meal worms to up the feed,i am getting a bit of floating poo whether it is the ultimate mix or not i cant tell but not really worrying about it.
Been using q/k food for quite a few years now and service is next to none cant fault the food.

    Hi John,

    That's fantastic news, thank you.

I have literally just ordered some now.

Does anyone know the why you would choose Ultimate Mix over Ultimate Koi or vice versa? I've been comparing the ingredients and think Ultimate Koi sounds better than ultimate Mix.

    Any thoughts?

    Cheers,

    Jay

Ive tried the ultimate koi jay and its basically one type high protein/growth feed where as the ultimate mix has ultimate koi, growth and colour feed in it hence “mix”
I find the ultimate mix to be good bud and recommend it as a warmer temp feed. Recommend jap mix for the shoulder months although im still a fan of saki multi for these and winter Queni koi food only saki does not compete with QK/coppens prices Queni koi food and ive always found the qk stuff to be good enough for me. I dont have any tosai or nisai fish now that i believe require the best early on to get the best from them.

    Hi Lee,

Thanks for explaining that to me, so the mix is a really good all rounder then.
