No idea how long it takes to digest , there only on them as treats now say twice a week with pellets added .

If you research eggs they have a full amino acid profile so my way of thinking was its a great healthy treat

Mine were a bit unsure about them but once they realised they were edible it soon went.

Interesting video and some logical points, I'll keep using the floating pellets then.

I've just ordered another 5kg of dried mealworms as a supplement to the pellets, my fish love them and it gives them something to do and munch on between feeds.
A bit of life enrichment packed with goodness.

    Not the best food but...
My niece was sat on the corner of the pond and she dropped in the water the crusty flakey part of sausage roll.....
    She shouted....UNCLE....
I rushed out and thought the worse and she was saying the big orange (ogon) as eaten my sausage roll....
So when i looked into the pond the ogon was being chased by an asagi and the red eyed kigoi and quickly followed by the chagoi.....

Last time anybody eats sat at the pond.......

I hope your niece offered them fries with that...

Joking aside, I know white rice is quite popularly fed to koi, in some regions.

Lots of human foods seem to be snapped-up by koi, not that I'd assume them to be particularly health-promoting for our piscine friends!

Peas are a reasonable source of protein and iirc have a decent amino acid profile

This is all i do , feed a decent brand of koi pellets 80 % of there diet , everyone knows what i use and make sure the treats are full of goodness and your koi will come on in leaps and bounds in a good environment .....but you cant polish a turd .

Anyone tried Hovis wheatmeal bread ?

Grabbed 6 loafs at 9 pence each ( fresh but use the same day ) ......i just freeze them in my "koi food freezer" in the filter house , thaw a few slices and pinch the bread around orchard fisheries sturgeon pellets and feed after dark they go mad for it

42 % protein and high fishmeal content ideal for night feeding to koi for an extra feed or two

If your not heated when the temps are high you need to get the feeds in ....especially if you can not feed much during the day if you are at work just feed after dark with sturgeon sinking pellets when your at home .

You need decent filtration to feed the amount i can feed but it has been worth the effort to be able to feed as much they need during the growing season and eventually have some decent koi at 60 cm plus

Basically i always now try to feed treats with pellets as my lot can soon turn fussy .

Just bought today enough Saki Hikari sinking balance and Hikari sinking wheat germ from Absolute koi to last me too spring 2017. I think people are definitely missing a trick by not using sinking food. I plan on next year to solely use Saki sinking food all year.

What's the general consensus on freeze dried krill for koi please?....
Seen some on Ebay, and thought that may make a nice treat - is there anything else I should know or buy?

    Thanks
Its a hole in the ground where I throw my money!
