A plate full of Summer treats mixed with the regular food ....

Sorting out my photo bucket album and found this from a few years ago

Crab sticks , prawns , mussels , pearl barley , cooked pollock , Orchard fisheries koi premium (made into sinkers ) and Orchard sturgeon pellets .

Only feed this now in the height of the season after dark as a treat / extra feed i,m not heated so need to make the most of the growing season , the sturgeon pellets are high fish meal content and great for koi growth in the summer .

I must stress i once over did it with the treats ( like kids would eat sweets all day ...lol..) so i,m 90 % pellets but the Albino grass carp love the softer stuff and are not keen on the pellets but do eat them .

    Whats your treats guys ?

Mel this makes me laugh mate, I'm coming to live in your pond because they are well looked after haha. Floating and sinking pellets, then probably honey on brown bread and the odd few garden worms.

    That's quite a selection Mel.
Mine take full advantage of the definition for Omnivore (all eater) and will eat anything that hits the water, I like to give them a verity of fruits, lettuce dried mealworms and occasionally silkworm pupae, the only downside I find is the pulpy waste created by the fruits and lettuce but the skimmer catches most of it.
I know of a chap who feeds his fish left over bait from course fishing which should be noted for the benefit of all is extremely risky and unwise considering the spread of KHV and bio security in general.
