Water tests
Hi,
Just back from a month away with work. Ordered a API when away as never really tested water before. But I think my results were good, if I've read the charts right?
ph 7.6
Ammonia 0
Nitrate 0
Nitrite 0

Hi
Yes those results are fine but now that you're back home they may get a lot more food than they've had while you've been away so keep checking regularly

Yep great test but as stated more food means your filters will have to work harder so dont go mad with the food, increase slowly so the filters can keep a pace

They've probably been over fed when I was away. The daughter and grand children had that job and kids love feeding the fish

hi
water test is spot on and a small amount of water is harder to look after and you can build a bigger pond as we all started with small ponds but they have a habbit of geting bigger

2500g will have to do for now. Just Away start a rotation in Kazakhstan so Maybe in a year or two I'm might managed to squeeze up 4000g.

I'd be a little surprised if your nitrate was 0, because this is an end product of the cycle and almost all ponds I know have some...
Are you sure you did the test right?
Other than that, yes, ammonia and nitrite at 0 are what we all strive for. But knowing my pond and fish I also know that I have ammonia in it as a burst after I feed them and then it settles back down. So also would depend on what time you did the tests.Blog, Koi, Everything.

Can you do the test wrong?
I followed the instructions
Nitrate
5ml pond water add drops and turn up and down few times
Shake bottle 2 hard before adding drops
shake tube 1 min
wait 5 and check against chart.
Will try again tomorrow just to make sure.

Bottle 1 ten drops to 5ml water.Mix. Shake bottle 2 for 30 seconds. Add 10 drops bottle 2 to test tube. Shake for 1 minute then wait for five mintes for a reading. Thats how i do it. Just looked at the instruction manual and it states to shake bottle 2 for at least 30 seconds.

Yes that's what I've done both times. Will have to buy a separate kit tomorrow and try that see if I get different results!

Well that's a new kit bought (£11.29) and the 3 rd test done. To me the same results.
3 test, to different kits. Test done exactly as instructed on box, each test roughly 12 hours apart.
